McAllister's return to rotation delayed

CLEVELAND -- Zach McAllister's return to the rotation will be delayed a little longer.
The right-hander, who was activated off the disabled list on Wednesday, was slated to start Thursday against the Angels until Wednesday's game was postponed by rain. Justin Masterson started the finale of the four-game series while Terry Francona is appearing to stick with his original plan for the Detroit series. Corey Kluber is listed as the probable starter for Friday with Trevor Bauer on Saturday and Josh Tomlin Sunday.
With the Indians having two off days next week, Francona has a little bit more flexibility with the rotation than usual. McAllister would be available to pitch out of the bullpen and presumably for some of the Detroit series.
BRANTLEY UPDATE: Francona said that Michael Brantley did some throwing, running and hit in the indoor batting cage on Thursday as he recovers from a concussion that he suffered on Monday.
Brantley is expected to do full baseball activities on Friday with a possible return to the lineup on Saturday.
SETTING A DATE: A makeup date for Wednesday's rainout is expected to be announced sometime next week.
Both teams have off days on July 28, Aug. 14 or Sept. 8. That is also when the Angels would be en route to road games either at Baltimore (July 28) or Texas (the last two).
