GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) — The Cincinnati Reds sent reliever Sam LeCure outright to the minors and put starter Homer Bailey on the 15-day disabled list Thursday as part of their moves to get to the 25-man roster limit for opening day.
Reliever Kevin Gregg and starter Jason Marquis were added to the roster. Marquis signed a minor league deal and won a spot in the rotation during spring training.
LeCure has been a mainstay in the bullpen the last four years. He went 1-4 with a 3.81 ERA in 62 appearances last season.
Bailey is still recovering from surgery on his right forearm last September. He’s expected to be ready to rejoin the rotation sometime in April.
The Reds open at home against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday.
