All the news surrounding the
Cavaliers, obviously, is the fact center Anderson Varejao will miss another six to eight weeks following surgery to repair what the team is classifying as a “split” to a leg muscle near his knee. The surgery is scheduled for Thursday. Meanwhile, the Hawks have their own problems, rolling into town with a three-game losing streak. That includes Tuesday’s loss at Minnesota – snapping the Hawks’ 11-game winning streak vs. the T-Wolves.
• Miles (back spasms) and Daniel Gibson (concussion) are game-time decisions, coach Byron Scott said at shootaround Wednesday. If Miles can’t go, Dion Waiters is likely to be moved back into the starting lineup.
• Both Devin Harris (foot) and Anthony Morrow (hip) are questionable. Neither played last night.
• The teams split their two games earlier this season, with each winning on the other’s home floor. They meet again April 1 in Atlanta.
• The Hawks are 7-2 on the second night of back-to-backs.
