Brantley, Morgan leave game with injuries

Lost in the aftermath of the Indians 15-4 win over the Blue Jays on Wednesday were injuries to two of the Tribe’s outfielders.

Left fielder Michael Brantley was pulled during the bottom of the fifth due to mid-back tightness. His replacement, Nyjer Morgan, was injured two batters into the inning when he banged his right knee against the turf while trying to make a play on a double by Adam Lind.

Morgan stayed in for the rest of the inning but was pulled in the top of the sixth for pinch-hitter Jose Ramirez, who stayed in the game and played second while Mike Aviles moved to left.

Terry Francona said that Brantley was pulled for precautionary reasons and that the injury did not happen on a specific play. He said Brantley "just kind of felt it" and got treatment. His status is being termed as day-to-day.

Morgan’s injury is being called a right-knee strain. "We’ll need to see how he will show up in the morning and see how sore he is," Francona said.
