The spotlight is on the Cincinnati Bearcats.
That will happen win you start the season 20-2 and 9-0 in your conference.
A road win over the defending champion helps too.
Cincinnati showed grit beating Louisville Thursday night, holding its ground as the top team in the American Athletic Conference.
Now, national folks are beginning to take notice with head coach Mick Cronin particularly drawing major praise.
Mick Cronin has taken Cincinnati from the depths of despair in 2006 to a program that will play in 4 straight NCAAs. Elite coach.— Jon Rothstein (@JonRothstein) January 31, 2014
Rothstein further writes that Cronin is evoking the Bob Huggins era at Cincinnati.
I said it last night, but it deserves repeating. The job Mick Cronin has done thus far has been extremely impressive. Coach Year candidate.— Jeff Goodman (@GoodmanESPN) January 31, 2014
Others are also jumping aboard the Bearcats' bandwagon after the big W.
Cincinnati gets 2nd huge road win in AAC. First Mem, now Lou. American couldn't script this better: Anchor team not leaving atop standings.— Andy Katz (@ESPNAndyKatz) January 31, 2014
That is just a big time win for Cincinnati. Bent but didn't break and beat a good team on its home floor. I'm a believer now.— Seth Davis (@SethDavisHoops) January 31, 2014
And Dickie V sums it up as only he can.
Cincy wins - fab road W - now have won 13 in a row Kilpatrick a real PTPER!— Dick Vitale (@DickieV) January 31, 2014
In a bracket prediction updated Friday morning, CBSSports.com’s Jerry Palm has Cincinnati as a 3 seed playing in San Antonio.
