Report: Bailey, Reds 'extremely far apart' in extension talks

The two sides recently began discussing a long-term extension, but according to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN, Bailey and the Reds are 'extremely far apart'.
"There's an enormous gap between the Reds last offer and what Homer Bailey wants in a long-term deal, source says."
GM Walt Jocketty recently told MLB.com that he knew Bailey would one of the most difficult guys to retain due to his recent success, but also noted that he was "optimistic" that they would be able to get a deal done.
The two sides are scheduled for an arbitration hearing later this month, and the gap between the salaries filed is one of the largest in MLB. Bailey filed at $11.6 million, while the Reds countered with $8.7 million.
Both parties are hoping to avoid court by working out a long term extension.
