JUN 18, 2013 12:11p ET
FOX Sports Ohio and the Cincinnati Reds are producing a special game telecast dedicated to the Reds Community Fund on Thursday, June 20th when the Reds play the Pittsburgh Pirates. An addition to FOX Sports Ohio’s original 145-game schedule, this game will air with limited commercial breaks. First pitch is at 12:30pm preceded by Reds Live Pre-game Show at 12 Noon. A full replay of the game will also air that evening at 7:00pm.
Since its inception in 2001, the Reds Community Fund has used baseball as a vehicle to reach out to kids. As one of the nonprofit arms of baseball's first professional team, the Community Fund strives to create programming that connects at-risk children with baseball, while creating fundraising programs that connect baseball with the community.
During the natural between innings breaks, FOX Sports Ohio and the Cincinnati Reds will feature many of the wonderful programs the Reds Community Fund supports, including the Urban Youth Academy, the P&G/Reds Community Makeover, Field Renovation, the Reds Rookie Success Leagues, Boys and Girls RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner-Cities), Reds Authentics, the Ultimate Autograph Experience, the Marty Brennaman Golf Classic, Safeco Insurance Reds Baseball Camps, and Family Catch. Also during the broadcast, fans will have the opportunity to support the Reds Community Fund by making a donation at reds.com/community or by calling (513) 765-7300.
“The Reds Community Fund is a program dedicated to improving the lives of local children by celebrating the traditions of the Cincinnati Reds and the game of baseball,” said FOX Sports Ohio Senior Vice President and General Manager, Francois McGillicuddy. “We are proud of our association with the Cincinnati Reds and our ability to present this game with limited commercial breaks in order to highlight the work of this outstanding program.”
The game is being called by George Grande, with analysis from Chris Welsh. Jim Day and Jeff Piecoro will report throughout the telecast and Reds Live pre- and postgame shows.
