Picture rows of RV’s, tailgating, racing flags, sleeveless shirts, a ton of neon and you have yourself a NASCAR race. Safe to say I AM HOOKED! I was able to experience my first Kentucky Speedway Quaker State 400 this past weekend in Sparta Kentucky. Fans came in from all over the world to experience this awesome sporting event and after my fair share of NASCAR races I can see why!
We had the FOX Sports Ohio tent set up in the middle of all the action where fans were coming up for autograph pictures and our lime green back pack giveaway. There, I got to take pictures with fans and really get to know them and how far they traveled to be at the race. I met a couple from Iowa, a nine-man deep bachelor party from St. Louis, a father and son who traveled from Australia, to name a few. One of my favorite moments before the race was seeing FOX Sports Midwest Girl, Teryn, who was attending the race with her family! It was such a nice reunion and completely unexpected.
A few weeks leading up to the big race FOX Sports Ohio gave their social media fans a chance to experience the Quaker State 400 first hand by giving away tickets. Our fans traveled to and from the race in style on our FOX Sports Ohio Fan Express where they got to represent Reds Country! I’m sure Gapper was pleased with this.
The Quaker State 400 will definitely not be the last NASCAR race I attend. Such a cool experience to meet the die-hard race fans and take in the atmosphere. A big congratulations goes out to 2-time Quaker State 400 champion, Brad Keselowski, on his Saturday win at the Kentucky Speedway.
