The Minnesota Wild will be without star Zach Parise for 2-3 weeks, the team announced on its Twitter page Tuesday evening.
The forward suffered a foot bruise Monday night against St. Louis. During the first period, Parise blocked an Alex Steen slap shot. Parise briefly returned to game action in the second period but eventually left the bench area and didn’t return.
Parise is the Wild’s leading scorer, with 22 points (11 goals, 11 assists), and had helped spur Minnesota’s sterling start to the season (15-6-4, 34 points).
Wednesday’s contest against Phoenix will mark Parise’s first missed game since he signed with Minnesota. The 29-year-old, 5-foot-11, 197-pound left wing has been rather durable during his eight-year career, aside from missing 69 games because of a knee injury in 2010-11 while playing in New Jersey.
