Wolves' Love has power -- upper-deck power

FOX 9 video shows Kevin Love's home run power at Target Field.

MINNEAPOLIS — A few days before NBA All-Star Kevin Love and the Minnesota Timberwolves began training camp, Love showed off his athleticism in a different sport.

The Olympic gold medalist joined the Minnesota Twins last Friday for early batting practice at Target Field, and video has finally made its way to the net, courtesy of FOX9.com. Donning a Twins hat and warm-up jacket, Love stepped into the cage to take batting practice while Twins manager Ron Gardenhire pitched to him.

Two days earlier, Love was at Target Field to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the Twins' game against the New York Yankees. At the time, Love said he would be back Friday to take batting practice, noting that he had a bet with his friends that he could hit a home run.

Sure enough, the 24-year-old forward has some skills on the baseball diamond, too. Love hit four home runs during his batting practice session, including one that reached the upper deck in left field.

Not bad for a guy who hasn't played the sport since ninth grade.
