MINNEAPOLIS — Gophers senior defensive lineman D.L. Wilhite was named second-team All-Big Ten by the media. The conference’s end-of-year awards were announced Monday.
Wilhite anchored Minnesota’s defensive line by recording 8.5 sacks this season, tied for second-most in the Big Ten behind Ohio State’s John Simon’s nine sacks. Wilhite also had 11 tackles for loss, most among all Gophers players.
Cornerbacks Michael Carter and Troy Stoudermire and defensive lineman Ra’Shede Hageman were named All-Big Ten honorable mentions by the media. Carter, who had 16 passes defended this season, was an honorable mention selection by the coaches. Hageman finished the year with five sacks, while Stoudermire averaged 22.3 yards per kick return on top of a team-high 78 tackles and three pass breakups.
