On Friday, the team and the Wilf family announced they are pledging $100,000 toward Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.
"Being from and living in the affected areas, our family has seen first-hand the destruction of Hurricane Sandy," Vikings owner and chairman Zygi Wilf said in a release. "As an organization, it is important for us to help raise awareness and support for those impacted by this disaster. Every contribution is critical to helping families and individuals in the region."
The Wilfs are from New Jersey, one of the areas hardest hit by the storm that has caused power outages and displaced residents from their homes all along the East Coast. The Wilf family built much of its wealth from its real estate development company, Garden Homes Development, which was founded in New Jersey.
The contribution from the Vikings and the Wilfs will go to the American Red Cross and other relief efforts in New Jersey and New York.
