SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Matt Kassian hasn’t been able to break through with the Minnesota Wild this season, and now the forward will get a chance with a new organization.
The Wild announced Tuesday that they’ve traded the 26-year-old to Ottawa for a sixth-round pick in the 2014 draft.
Kassian had one goal in nine games this season with the Houston Aeros of the AHL. The 6-foot-4, 232-pounder never appeared in a game with the Wild this season before he was assigned to Houston on Feb. 14.
Kassian, the 57th overall pick in the 2005 draft by Minnesota, has played in 28 games for the Wild the past two seasons, scoring two goals in 24 games last year.
