Wild recall Kuemper, send Scandella to Houston

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — The Minnesota Wild recalled goaltender Darcy Kuemper and reassigned defenseman Marco Scandella in advance of their road game Tuesday in Vancouver.

Kuemper was called up from Houston of the American Hockey League, where he was 10-6-0 with a 1.79 goals-against average and a .938 save percentage. He was second in the AHL in goals-against and save percentage, and tied for fourth with four shutouts. Scandella was sent to Houston after being a healthy scratch the past two games for the Wild.

Scandella, 22, had one goal in six games for Minnesota this season after being recalled Jan. 27.

Kuemper, 22, was a sixth-round pick by Minnesota in the 2009 entry draft.
