Vikings sign three draft picks, first-rounders remain

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — With two weeks before organized team activities officially begin, the Minnesota Vikings have agreed to terms with three more of their third-day draft picks, leaving only the team's three first-rounders left to sign.

Minnesota announced Wednesday via its Twitter account the team has signed fifth-round pick Jeff Locke, sixth-round pick Jeff Baca and seventh-rounder Travis Bond. The team signed fourth-rounder Gerald Hodges and seventh-rounders Michael Mauti and Everett Dawkins on Tuesday.

The only unsigned of the Vikings' nine picks are first-rounders Sharrif Floyd, Xavier Rhodes and Cordarrelle Patterson.

Locke, out of UCLA, is expected to take over the team's punting job after Minnesota released veteran punter Chris Kluwe last week. Baca, out of UCLA, and Bond, from North Carolina, will provide depth along the offensive line. Baca and Bond are both guards but are considered to have the versatility to play along the line.

Four-year contracts are standard for non-first round picks.
