Vikings sign rookie WR A.J. Love

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — The Minnesota Vikings have added another wide receiver to the mix in trying to upgrade the struggling unit.

Minnesota signed undrafted rookie A.J. Love on Tuesday, the 12th receiver on the team's 90-man roster. Love caught 74 passes for 1,092 yards and eight touchdowns in his time at the University of South Florida. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Love had two seasons wiped out by injury. A thumb injury caused him to miss the 2006 season and a torn anterior cruciate ligament in a spring game caused him to miss the entire 2010 season.

Love returned last year and started six of the 10 games he played. He caught nine passes for 122 yards and a touchdown. His biggest season came as a junior before his knee injury when he 26 catches for 489 yards (an 18.8 yard-per-catch average) and four touchdowns.

The signing brings the Vikings roster to its limit of 90 players. Minnesota also added undrafted rookie defensive back Corey Gatewood on Monday. The Vikings can bring 90 players to training camp in Mankato in July.
