Start planning your tailgate parties and August football trips, Minnesotans, because the Vikings have announced the dates and times for their 2014 preseason schedule.
Along with the rest of the NFL, Minnesota announced its preseason opponents last week with a rough schedule. The dates and times were finished up this week.
Minnesota faces the Oakland Raiders in its first preseason game, opening up the Vikings' first season at TCF Bank Stadium with the preseason opener on Aug. 8 at 7 p.m.
The Vikings begin the preseason with two home games and will host the Arizona Cardinals on Aug. 16 at 7:30 p.m.
The preseason ends with two road games. Minnesota plays at Kansas City on Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. and finishes at Tennessee on Aug. 28 at 7 p.m.
The regular-season schedule is expected to be announced next week. The regular season begins on Sept. 4 with the NFL's annual Thursday kickoff.
In addition to the home and road games in the NFC North against the Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers, the Vikings will host the New England Patriots, New York Jets, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers and Washington Redskins during the regular season. Minnesota will face the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and St. Louis Rams on the road.
