MINNEAPOLIS — Brad Steil will take over as the
Minnesota Twins' Director of Minor League Operations, the team announced Thursday.
Steil takes over for longtime farm director Jim Rantz, who recently announced his retirement after nearly 50 years in the Twins organization. Steil spent the last five seasons as the Twins' Director of Baseball Operations. Prior to that, he was the assistant director of baseball operations. Steil is a Minnesota native and a graduate of Concordia College.
In addition, the Twins announced that Dave Pruemer is the team's new head athletic trainer. Pruemer was previously an assistant athletic trainer and now takes over for Rick McWane, who was not brought back for the 2013 season. This will be Pruemer's 19th year in the Twins organization.
Tony Leo was promoted to assistant athletic trainer, while Lanning Tucker was named the assistant athletic trainer and rehabilitation coordinator. Leo has been in the organization for 15 seasons, while next year will mark Tucker's 22nd in the organization. Leo has been with the major league club since 2011, while Tucker has been the head minor league trainer and rehab coordinator since 1999.
