Reports: Minnesota brings back Mitchell

Reports: Backup linebacker Marvin Mitchell has re-signed with the Vikings.

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — The Minnesota Vikings retained some of their linebacker depth on Tuesday.

Multiple reports say Minnesota re-signed linebacker Marvin Mitchell, who played in 11 games last season, starting one for an injured Erin Henderson. Mitchell, 28, did deal with injuries of his own and had 10 tackles and one forced fumble for the Vikings, playing mainly on special teams. The St. Paul Pioneer Press reported Mitchell received a one-year deal.

Mitchell was one of 10 unrestricted free agents for Minnesota this offseason, with the team re-signing seven of them. Only receiver Devin Aromashodu remains unsigned. Linebacker Jasper Brinkley signed with the Arizona Cardinals and offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz signed with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Vikings also re-signed tackle Phil Loadholt, offensive lineman Joe Berger, fullback Jerome Felton, linebacker Erin Henderson, safety Jamarca Sanford and receiver Jerome Simpson.
