Vikings re-sign kicker Kai Forbath

After watching their kicker unravel in 2016 after four productive seasons, the Minnesota Vikings are hoping for a little stability at the position from Kai Forbath.

The Vikings re-signed the veteran kicker Wednesday following his first full season with the team. Forbath went 32-for-38 on field-goal attempts in 2017. He shined from distance, going 6-for-9 from 50-plus yards and 6-for-7 from 40-49 yards out. However, he struggled at times from shorter distances, missing twice from 30-39 yards and going 34-for-39 on extra points.

Forbath had a career game in October, completing field goals from 52, 51, 43, 43, 34 and 32 yards out to help the Vikings to a win over the Baltimore Ravens.

Forbath spent three seasons and a portion of a fourth with the Washington Redskins before signing with the New Orleans Saints in 2015. He replaced embattled Vikings kicker Blair Walsh in 2016, making all 15 of his field-goal attempts and going 11-for-14 on extra-point attempts.

The signing was one of four moves made Wednesday by the Vikings, who also signed long snapper Nick Dooley and tight end Josiah Price, and waived linebacker Shaan Washington.
