Wolves sign free agent Omri Casspi

The Minnesota Timberwolves have signed Omri Casspi, who made just one appearance after being traded to the New Orleans Pelicans before being released.

The Minnesota Timberwolves signed free agent Omri Casspi on Monday, adding the versatile swingman for the rest of the season after forward Nemanja Bjelica to a season-ending foot injury last week.

Aquirred by the New Orleans Pelicans from the Sacramento Kings as part of the DeMarcus Cousins trade, Casspi played just one game for the Pelicans before before being released after suffering a thumb injury.

Now in his eighth NBA season, Casspi has averaged 6.1 points and four rebounds in 22 games this season, while shooting 46 percent from the field and 39.4 percent from 3-point range.

A first-round pick of the Kings back in 2009, Casspi grew up in Israel and was the first Israeli to play in the NBA.
