MINNEAPOLIS — There’s no name for the injury that caused Kevin Love to miss Saturday’s preseason game against the Chicago Bulls.
Sore elbow was as specific as it got, but maybe sleeping elbow would have been better, or bed elbow, even. Love was a late scratch because he’d slept funny the night before, with his right arm hanging off his bed. It sounded like the kind of excuse a third-grader might use to get out of going to school, but with Love, it was 100-percent real.
When Love woke up Saturday, the elbow was stiff, and he couldn’t shoot the basketball. He spent that night’s game on the sidelines (much of it sandwiched between Maya Moore and her mom, Kathryn), but by Monday, he was back on the court.
“I slept on the other side of the bed this time,” Love said of his recovery.
Initially, Love said that he thought the sore elbow would just be a 24-hour problem, but he admitted after Monday’s practice that if the team had worked out on Sunday, he wouldn’t have been able to participate. He’s still not 100 percent, but he’ll be good to go for Tuesday’s preseason game against Israeli team Maccabi Bazan Haifa, and his shooting and rebounding skills are back.
