Gophers unveil outdoors uniforms
FEB 12, 2013 8:14p ET
Gophers captain Zach Budish and coach Don Lucia were on hand at Lake of the Isles Outdoor Rink in Minneapolis on Tuesday to show off the jerseys Minnesota will wear Sunday when it takes on rival Wisconsin in the OfficeMax Hockey City Classic at Soldier Field in Chicago. The Gophers will sport maroon sweaters with yellow lettering that reads "GOPHERS" diagonally across the front. Each player's number will also be displayed near the left shoulder. Additionally, yellow and white stripes adorn the elbows and the bottom of the jersey.
Minnesota's jerseys for Sunday's game are modeled after the ones worn by the 1960-61 team. After the game, each game-worn jersey will be auctioned off, with the proceeds going to Defending the Blue Line.
The Gophers and Badgers will play Friday night at the Kohl Center in Madison prior to Sunday's game in Chicago — the first outdoor game for Minnesota in the modern era. Prior to that game, Notre Dame and Miami (Ohio) will kick off the OfficeMax Hockey City Classic.
