MINNEAPOLIS — The University of Minnesota hockey team announced its upcoming 2014-15 schedule on Thursday.
The Gophers will open the season on the road, taking part in the Ice Breaker Tournament at Notre Dame from Oct. 10-12. Minnesota’s first home series of the year will be against Bemidji State at Mariucci Arena on Oct. 24 and 25. Also of note in nonconference play is a home-and-home series against St. Cloud State on Oct. 31-Nov. 1 and another with Minnesota Duluth on Nov. 14-15.
Head coach Don Lucia’s team opens up the Big Ten schedule with a series in East Lansing, Mich., against Michigan State on Dec. 5-6. Minnesota will also host the annual Mariucci Classic on Jan. 2-3 with Merrimack, UMass-Lowell and RIT coming to town.
Minnesota will also play in the second annual North Star College Cup at Xcel Energy Center, which includes four teams from the state of Minnesota.
This year’s Big Ten tournament will take place in Detroit from March 19-21, and the NCAA tournament will be held in April.
