Gophers cruise by host Alaska Anchorage

Minnesota returns to form in a road win at Alaska Anchorage.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Minnesota sophomore star Kyle Rau tallied two goals Friday night, leading the Gophers hockey squad in a 4-0 shutout of host Alaska Anchorage at Sullivan Arena, in front of a crowd of 2,674.

The visiting Gophers got a stellar outing from freshman goaltender Adam Wilcox, who recorded 14 saves. Minnesota also got goals from Ben Marshall and Nick Bjugstad.

The Gophers fired 31 total shots on goal, while the Seawolves could muster just 14.

With the win, the Gophers improved to 6-2-0 overall and 3-2-0 in WCHA action. Alaska Anchorage fell to 2-3-2 overall and 0-2-1 in conference play.
