News: Tinordi was ejected early in the third period from Sunday night's preseason loss to the Capitals for throwing an elbow, the Montreal Gazette reports.
Impact: Prior to that, Tinordi's night wasn't going so well. He picked up a couple of unnecessary penalties after getting beaten on a couple of plays. He's attempting to win a spot on the roster, but did not aide his cause Sunday.

News: Eller made his preseason debut Sunday night in a loss to Washington. He had missed the first week or so of preseason with a lower-body injury.
Impact: Eller had a couple of shots and skated 14:29 while winning seven of 10 faceoffs. He's set to center the third line when the regular season opens.

News: Price (knee) stopped 29 of 30 shots in Sunday night's preseason loss to the Capitals. It was his first time playing a full game since he injured his knee in last season's playoffs.
Impact: It looks like the timing is coming back for Price, who was in midseason form on a night when the Canadiens' offense managed just 18 shots. He is expected to start two of Montreal's final three preseason games.

News: Thomas has been promoted to the Canadiens' first group at training camp, Hockey Inside Out reports. The rookie had been training with a group of players unlikely to make Montreal's roster.
Impact: Thomas, who scored a goal in the Habs' preseason opener, is this year's dark horse to claim a roster spot, but should eventually find himself at Hamilton of the American Hockey League.
Sat. Sep 27, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Galchenyuk was moved back to left wing during Saturday morning's practice, Hockey Inside Out reports. He skated on a line with center Tomas Plekanec and right winger Brendan Gallagher.
Impact: Consider the move to center for Galchenyuk on hold for now. The Habs experimented with him there during preseason, but the plan was always to move him back to wing.
Sat. Sep 27, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Eller (lower body) returned to practice Saturday morning, Hockey Inside Out reports. He skated on a line with Jiri Sekac and Rene Bourque.
Impact: Eller had been sidelined since last weekend because of the injury, and it's uncertain if he'll take the ice in Sunday's preseason game against the Capitals.

News: Tokarski saved 27 of 29 shots to earn the win in Friday night's preseason game against Colorado.
Impact: Tokarski, who played the entire game, is battling Peter Budaj for the backup job behind Carey Price. It was a good effort from the young goalie, who held up well against a veteran lineup while the Canadiens suited up a roster of players destined for the American Hockey League.

News: Bozon will be active for Friday night's preseason game against the Avalanche, Hockey Inside Out reports. It will be his first game action since battling meningitis earlier this year.
Impact: Bozon is just one of many unknown Canadiens taking the ice Friday night in Quebec City, which welcomes back the franchise that left town back in 1995.

News: Galchenyuk scored the game-winning goal in Thursday night's preseason overtime win over the Avalanche. The goal was essentially a power-play goal, coming seconds after Colorado's Nick Holden got out of the box.
Impact: Galchenyuk played the game at center with Tomas Plekanec getting the night off and won 7-of-14 faceoffs. He said he felt comfortable at center, though when all bodies are healthy, Galchenyuk is expected to go back to left wing.
Fri. Sep 26, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Pacioretty had a team-high seven shots and scored a power-play goal in Thursday night's 3-2 preseason win over Colorado.
Impact: Montreal's power play accounted for two of the three goals Thursday and they were just finishing a man-advantage stint when the game-winner was scored in overtime. Pacioretty will be a member of the first unit power play all season.
Fri. Sep 26, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Subban earned the first star Thursday night, as he had a hand in all three of Montreal's goals in a 3-2 preseason win over Colorado.
Impact: Subban scored a goal, assisted on the other two and had six shots on net while logging a team-high 29:43 of ice time. He was paired with Alexi Emelin on the blue line, a duo that head coach Michel Therrien expects to keep together when the regular season kicks off.

News: Eller (lower body) is not expected to see any exhibition game action before next week, the Montreal Gazette reports.
Impact: Eller may be able to practice before the end of the current week, but game action has been ruled out.
Thu. Sep 25, 2014 | RotoWire
News: McCarron (shoulder) has been ruled out for six weeks, John Lu of TSN Montreal reports.
Impact: The 2013 first-rounder will have his second season with the OHL's London Knights get off to a delayed start as a result of the injury. While McCarron's development shouldn't be dramatically stalled, it's obviously won't help his chances of reaching Montreal anytime soon. The 19-year-old tallied 14 goals, 20 assists and 120 penalty minutes in 66 games with London in 2013-14.
Wed. Sep 24, 2014 | RotoWire
News: The Canadiens split their camp into two groups Wednesday, and Thomas was part of the group expected to open the season in the minors, the Montreal Gazette reports.
Impact: Thomas had a big game in the preseason opener Tuesday, when he scored a goal and assisted on the game-winner against the Bruins.
Wed. Sep 24, 2014 | RotoWire
News: McCarron, who injured his arm in Tuesday night's preseason opener, does not have any broken bones and there's no word on when he might return, the Montreal Gazette reports.
Impact: McCarron has been ruled out for a stretch and will miss Thursday night's encounter with the Avalanche.
Wed. Sep 24, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Coach Michel Therrien said Wednesday that he expects Eller (lower body) to return to practice in the next day or two, LNH.com's Arpon Basu reports.
Impact: Eller came into training camp nursing the lower-body ailment, but it was never suggested a long absence was in store for the forward. One of the top performers for Habs in playoffs during their run to the Eastern Conference Finals, Eller is unlikely to claim a top-six role heading into the 2014-15. Even so, he should offer the team a solid depth scoring on the third line, with a 30-point season well within his capacity.

News: McCarron, who left Tuesday night's preseason game with arm injury, registered three hits and had two shots on goal before leaving, the Montreal Gazette reports.
Impact: McCarron made an impact in the game, something head coach Michel Therrien was expecting to see from the 6-foot-6, 238-pound forward.
Wed. Sep 24, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Thomas scored a power-play goal and assisted on the game-winner in Tuesday night's preseason win over Boston.
Impact: There are one or two forward spots on the Canadiens' roster to be won, but Thomas' name is not mentioned among the likely candidates. The 5-foot-9, 180-pound forward said his offseason work included a focus on playing in the dirty areas.

News: McCarron exited Tuesday's exhibition game with an apparent left arm injury, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Impact: McCarron looked like he suffered the injury when he took a hit after the whistle and collided with the post. He was able to exit the ice with the help of some teammates, but the severity of his injury likely won't be known until the next several days. The Canadiens' 2013 first-round draft pick, McCarron isn't likely to contribute for the parent club this season, but was enjoying a productive game prior to his exit.
Tue. Sep 23, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Head coach Michel Therrien described McCarron, Montreal's first-round pick in 2013, as a long-term project, the Montreal Gazette reports.
Impact: The 20-year-old McCarron had his best day of training camp Monday, but appears destined to open the season with Hamilton of the American Hockey League.
Mon. Sep 22, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gilbert looks like he'll pair up with Andrei Markov on defense this season, Pat Hickey of the Montreal Gazette reports.
Impact: Inked by the Habs to a two-year contract in July, Gilbert has been next to Markov since Day 1 in camp, and the pair has seemed to click. Though both blueliners are puck-movers rather than true stay-at-home defensemen, the two vets are both savvy enough to know when to take risks and when to play it safe. It may be difficult for Gilbert to improve upon the 28 points he accrued in 73 games with the Panthers last season, but he shouldn't have much difficulty finishing on the positive side in plus-minus rating now that he's a member of the Eastern Conference runner-ups.
Mon. Sep 22, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Eller (lower body) is on the training camp injured list, Renaud Lavoie of Journal de Montreal reports.
Impact: Eller didn't skate Monday for the second straight day after being hit by teammate Alexei Emelin during Saturday's scrimmage. Eller signed a four-year, $14 million deal to remain with the Canadiens over the summer, and is expected to start the season as the team's third-line center.

News: Parenteau scored a goal in Sunday's intra-squad scrimmage Sunday, Hockey Inside Out reports.
Impact: It was the second straight scrimmage that Parenteau has found the net; he scored twice Saturday. Head coach Michel Therrien has not indicated where he sees a best fit for Parenteau, but the right winger appears headed for a top-six role.
Sat. Sep 20, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Andrighetto scored a goal on a penalty shot during Montreal's intra-squad scrimmage Saturday, the Montreal Gazette reports.
Impact: Andrighetto showcased some of his offensive skill, forcing a hooking penalty that led to his penalty shot goal, but the 5-9 forward was also out-muscled in one-on-one battles and was on ice for three of his opponents' goals. That sums up Andrighetto at this stage of his career -- he has nifty offensive skills but needs to work on the physical part of the game as well as defense. If he were to stick with Montreal, it would have to be in a third- or fourth-line role, where he would have to play a more physical role than he's accustomed to.
Sat. Sep 20, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Parenteau scored two goals in an intra-squad scrimmage Saturday, Hockey Inside Out reports. He skated on a line with David Desharnais and Max Pacioretty.
Impact: Parenteau, who was acquired in the offseason from Colorado, will be part of a few line combinations during the preseason to see where he fits best, so we're not jumping to any conclusions because he skated on the Habs' top line Saturday. Head coach Michel Therrien said he was pleased with Parenteau's conditioning; he and general manager Marc Bergevin talked to Parenteau about reporting to camp in good shape when he was acquired.
Sat. Sep 20, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Pateryn is competing with fellow prospects Nathan Beaulieu and Jarred Tinordi for the final spot available on defense, the Montreal Gazette reports.
Impact: Pateryn is the forgotten defensive prospect as both Beaulieu and Tinordi were first-round draft picks. They've also played more games in Montreal than Pateryn, including postseason action. Pateryn offers a mix of Beaulieu's offensive skills and Tinordi's physicality in his own end, and was the best of the three with a plus-5 with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League last season.
Fri. Sep 19, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Bouillon will skate with the Canadiens during training camp, the Montreal Gazette reports.
Impact: Bouillon, who was with the Canadiens in 2013-14, was not signed in the offseason. If he makes the opening-night roster, it would be mean something has gone wrong with the development of younger defensemen like Nathan Beaulieu, Jarred Tinordi or Greg Pateryn.

News: Galchenyuk will open training camp playing center, the Montreal Gazette reports. Groomed as a center at the junior level, Galchenyuk's played primarily at left wing in his first two NHL seasons.
Impact: The Canadiens are still deep at center, so we expect Galchenyuk to move back to wing by the time the regular season opens. It appears having him play center in training camp is planting the seed for an eventual move to the position.
