News: Nemeth (arm) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.
Impact: The move to injured reserve was a foregone conclusion for Nemeth, after he was ruled out for the remainder of the regular season following surgery for a serious arm laceration. The Stars hope that Nemeth will be able to contribute at some point during the team's potential playoff run, but such a decision would hinge entirely on how much progress the blueliner makes in the coming months.
Tue. Oct 21, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Nichushkin (groin) has been placed on injured reserve.
Impact: Nichushkin has already been out for over a week with the lower-body ailment, so the move to IR doesn't come as much of a surprise. It's uncertain how much longer the Stars will be without the services of Nichushkin, but the youngster was able to get in a skate Monday, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports, suggesting a return to practice may be in the offing. Fortunately for Nichushkin, none of the Stars' other wing options have made a strong case over the last few games to take over his top-line role on a permanent basis.
Tue. Oct 21, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Benn scored a goal, assisted on another, went plus-1 and collected two PIM in Tuesday's win over Vancouver.
Impact: As usual, Benn and Tyler Seguin made magic together, as Benn had the primary assist on Seguin's goal at the end of the first period and Seguin got the primary assist on Benn's goal at the start of the second. Unsurprisingly, the talented Benn is off to a big start to the year, and that should continue as long as he and Seguin are healthy.
Tue. Oct 21, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Seguin scored a goal and assisted on another in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Canucks.
Impact: As usual, Seguin and Jamie Benn did their damage together, with each getting the primary assist on the other's goal. Seguin now has a stunning 10 points, evenly split between goals and assists, over his last four games.
Tue. Oct 21, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Lehtonen turned away 43 out of 46 pucks in Tuesday's win over the Canucks.
Impact: Sure, he gave up three goals, but this still represents an outstanding start for Lehtonen, particularly considering the amount of rubber that came his way. The Finnish netminder hasn't been able to replicate last season's dominance so far this year, but he also hasn't lost in regulation yet.
Tue. Oct 21, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Lehtonen is in the net Tuesday versus the Canucks, Sportsnet reports.
Impact: Lehtonen's recent history against the Canucks (4-0, 0.95 GAA over last five starts) would seem to bode well for his chances of rebounding from Saturday's six-goal debacle against the Flyers. Ryan Miller will oppose him in the opposite net.
Tue. Oct 21, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gonchar (ankle) skated on his own Monday, Mark Stepneski of the Stars' website reports.
Impact: It's not exactly clear where Gonchar stands in his recovery, but it's a good sign that he was able to get back on the ice. Gonchar will likely be ready to return to game action sometime in early November.
Tue. Oct 21, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Lehtonen is expected to start Tuesday's game against the Canucks, Mark Stepneski of the Stars' official website reports.
Impact: Lehtonen will look to get back on track after giving up as many goals (six) in his last start as he did in his first three combined. He will take on a Vancouver squad that is currently tied for 10th in the league averaging 3.00 goals per game.
Mon. Oct 20, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Nemeth will miss the entire regular season due to an arm laceration, Mark Stepneski of the team's official site reports.
Impact: Nemeth suffered a scary injury Saturday when he cut his arm on an opponent's skate, and was originally expected to miss a few weeks. It turns out the injury is much more serious, and Nemeth will unfortunately see his season come to a premature end as a result.
Sun. Oct 19, 2014 | STATS
News: Nemeth will miss the remainder of the season.
Impact: Nemeth left Saturday's game in the first period because of a right arm laceration, and didn't return.
Sun. Oct 19, 2014 | STATS
News: Lehtonen stopped 31 of 37 shots Saturday.
Impact: Lehtonen was poor but so was the defensive effort for Dallas.
Sun. Oct 19, 2014 | STATS
News: Daley had two goals Saturday.
Impact: Daley has five points in five games so he is getting it done for the Stars.
Sun. Oct 19, 2014 | STATS
News: Seguin was superb Saturday.
Impact: Seguin had four assists for the Stars. He had never before had more than two in a game.
Sun. Oct 19, 2014 | STATS
News: Spezza was brilliant Saturday.
Impact: Spezza had a goal and three assists after entering with two points in his first four games.
Oct 19, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Benn tallied his third goal of the season in Saturday's overtime loss to the Flyers.
Impact: Benn has heated up with the rest of the Stars attack over the last three games, contributing three goals and three assists. It's safe to say the zero points and minus-3 rating Benn delivered in the first two games have been forgiven by his fantasy owners.
Oct 19, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Lehtonen gave up six goals on 37 shots in Saturday's overtime loss to Philadelphia. He is now 0-10-3 against the Flyers in his career.
Impact: Lehtonen, who came into Saturday with two straight wins, always seems to struggle against the Flyers. Don't read too much into it; it's just one of those things that nobody can really explain. The 30-year-old is now 2-0-2 on the season with a .906 save percentage and 2.90 GAA. He's very reliable in the Stars' crease and should bounce back in the next few games.
Oct 19, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Daley struck for a pair of power-play goals in Saturday's overtime loss to the Flyers.
Impact: Daley, who only had one power-play goal in 67 games in 2013-14, has already notched a career-high three in just five games this season. The 31-year-old is counted on to log heavy minutes in Dallas, but at his age, it's hard to see him suddenly breaking out offensively. He's off to a great start, though, with five points in five games. If Daley continues to get power-play time with the likes of Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn and Jason Spezza, there's no reason he can't at least surpass the career-high 25 points that he's tallied thrice in his career.
Oct 19, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Spezza scored his first goal of the season and added three assists in Saturday's overtime loss to Philadelphia.
Impact: This is the Jason Spezza we thought we would see this season. After a quiet start, Spezza has come alive in a big way, recording six points in his past two games. Playing on the top power-play unit with Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn, Spezza will continue to get plenty of opportunities to put up points.
Oct 19, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Seguin handed out four assists -- two on the power play -- in Saturday's overtime loss to the Flyers.
Impact: Quite the spectacle from Seguin, who now has eight points in his last three games after going scoreless in his first two. The 22-year-old has shown great chemistry playing alongside Jamie Benn and should put up another 80-point season as the Stars' top-line center.
Sat. Oct 18, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Head coach Lindy Ruff said after Saturday's game against Philadelphia that Nemeth (arm laceration) will be out for a significant amount of time, Mark Stepneski of the Stars' official site reports.
Impact: How long exactly, we aren't sure, but it sounds as if Nemeth will miss at least a couple of weeks after having his arm inadvertently cut by an opponent's skate. Ruff said Jamie Oleksiak will likely take Nemeth's place, and the team is expected to recall a reinforcement from the AHL as well.
Sat. Oct 18, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Nemeth left Saturday's game against Philadelphia in the first period with an arm laceration and will not return, the Stars' official site reports.
Impact: Nemeth had played just 23 seconds before a scary incident in which R.J. Umberger's skate came up and cut Nemeth's right wrist. No word yet on the severity of the injury, but it is unfortunate timing for the 22-year-old who was just starting to solidify his role on the Stars' blue line.
Sat. Oct 18, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Sceviour looks like he'll be a healthy scratch Saturday against the Flyers, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact: Sceviour has been holding down a top-line role the last couple of games while Valeri Nichushkin (groin) remains out, but coach Lindy Ruff will look to rearrange some things Saturday. The 25-year-old could still earn his way back to the Jamie Benn-Tyler Seguin line at some point, though Patrick Eaves will get a trial there on Saturday.
Sat. Oct 18, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Cole (illness) will play Saturday against the Flyers, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact: Cole was absent from Friday's practice due to an illness, but he confirmed his availability for Saturday's contest by participating in morning skate. Cole was relegated to checking-line duty in the first week of the season after showing up late to a practice, but he seems to be back in the good graces of coach Lindy Ruff. He's since moved back to the second line the last couple of games, but has no points to show for it thus far.
Sat. Oct 18, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Lehtonen will make the start in goal for the Stars on Saturday against the Flyers, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact: Lehtonen delivered an excellent outing his last time out against a potent Pens attack, stopping 27 of 29 shots en route to his second win of the season. He'll get an easier test against the flailing Flyers, though he's struggled mightily against them in his career, posting an 0-10-2 record and 3.50 goals-against average. Staying healthy remains an annual concern for Lehtonen, but if he can approach the 65 games he appeared in last season for the Stars, he'll have a good chance at finishing as a top-10 fantasy option at his position.
Fri. Oct 17, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Cole didn't practice Friday due to an illness, Mark Stepinski of the team's official site reports.
Impact: Cole's status has come in to question with the revelation that he is dealing with an illness. Morning skate or pregame warmups should shed some more light on the situation with Cole.
Fri. Oct 17, 2014 | STATS
News: Seguin scored his fourth goal of the season Thursday in Dallas' 3-2 win over Pittsburgh.
Impact: Seguin netted the game winning goal with 2.9 seconds remaining in the third period. This is the quickest Seguin has reached four goals in a season during his five-year career.
Thu. Oct 16, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Goligoski tallied two assists in Thursday's victory over Pittsburgh.
Impact: After two awful games to start the year in which he went minus-5 with no points, Goli's bounced back with three helpers and a plus-3 in his last two games. He should be good for right around 40 points again this year on the Stars' top defensive pairing.
Thu. Oct 16, 2014 | RotoWire
News: With the Stars trailing 2-1 entering the final three minutes Thursday against the Penguins, Spezza assisted on Jamie Benn's game-tying goal and then Tyler Seguin's power-play winner with three seconds remaining.
Impact: Spezza's been off to a slow start this year, but he delivered two huge assists for his first points since the opener. He also went positive in terms of plus-minus for the first time this year. Much is expected from Spezza in his first-ever season out of Ottawa, so we'll look for the 31-year-old to keep things going.
Thu. Oct 16, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Lehtonen stopped 27 of 29 shots in Thursday's victory over the Penguins.
Impact: Lehtonen's given up exactly two goals in each of his three starts this year, and has been rewarded with a 2-0-1 record. He should remain a reliable option in the Stars' net, as he typically has been when healthy.
Thu. Oct 16, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Lehtonen led the Stars onto the ice and will be the starter in goal Thursday versus the Penguins, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact: Lehtonen will match up against the Penguins' Marc-Andre Fleury in search of his second win of the season.
Thu. Oct 16, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Lehtonen was the first goalie off the ice at Thursday's morning skate and appears in line to start against the Penguins, Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Impact: Lehtonen has been excellent in two starts with a 1.92 GAA and .934 save percentage, but he'll certainly have his work cut out for him on the road against the powerful Penguins. Pittsburgh has blasted the opposition for 11 goals in their two games, and with the Stars not lacking in offensive firepower either, it wouldn't be surprising if a shootout materialized here. Tread carefully.
Thu. Oct 16, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Eakin had an assist, a plus-1 rating and four shots in Tuesday's win over Columbus.
Impact: Eakin had a strong game and is looking good in the early going. He has a goal, an assist, a plus-3 rating and an average of three shots per game through the season's first three contests.
Thu. Oct 16, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Sceviour grabbed an assist, three shots and a plus-3 rating over 16:52 in Tuesday's win over the Blue Jackets.
Impact: Sceviour made his debut on the top line Tuesday with Valeri Nichushkin (groin) out for a week. Playing with Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin certainly gave Sceviour's numbers a good bump. That should continue as long as he gets first-line minutes, but he has no guarantees, so he'll need to keep playing well
Wed. Oct 15, 2014 | STATS
News: The Dallas Stars placed right wing Valeri Nichushkin on injured reserve Sunday because of a groin injury and recalled defenseman Jyrki Jokipakka from the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League.
Impact: Nichushkin has played in two games this season. He had 14 goals and 20 assists in 79 games last season as a rookie.
Wed. Oct 15, 2014 | STATS
News: Benn tallied a goal and three assists in Tuesday's win at Columbus, marking his third career game with at least four points.
Impact: Benn was without a point through his first two games.
Wed. Oct 15, 2014 | STATS
News: Seguin broke through for his first three goals of the season in Tuesday's win at Columbus.
Impact: Seguin's hat trick was the fifth of his career.
Wed. Oct 15, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Goligoski collected an assist -- his first point of the season -- in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Blue Jackets.
Impact: The helper came on the second of Tyler Seguin's three goals on the evening. Coming off a career-best season in which he registered six goals and 36 assists over 81 games, Goligoski will be counted on again to assume heavy minutes on the Stars' top pairing in 2014-15.
Wed. Oct 15, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Peverley was moved to long-term injured reserve Monday, Mark Stepneski of the team's official site reports.
Impact: Peverley's move was simply to give the team extra cap space with the rash of injuries and call-ups. He currently still has no timetable for return after suffering a cardiac issue last March. He was told he should be able to play again at some point this season, but it remains to be seen whether that will actually occur.
Tue. Oct 14, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Lehtonen made 33 saves on 35 shots in Tuesday's win over the Blue Jackets.
Impact: Lehtonen's turned in very fine work in both of his starts to open the year and has plenty of job security as the Stars' top netminder. Roll him as long as he can stay healthy.
Tue. Oct 14, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Benn got over his quiet first couple games of the season with a goal and three assists in Tuesday's win over the Jackets.
Impact: Unsurprisingly, Benn and Tyler Seguin recovered in tandem from their two quiet games to open the campaign, and they should combine for many more points as the year goes on.
Tue. Oct 14, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Seguin busted out with his first three goals of the year and a plus-4 rating in Tuesday's win over Columbus.
Impact: After a quiet first couple games of the year, Seguin showed us why he's among the league's best, even if his third goal was of the empty-net variety. He and Jamie Benn should make magic together all year long.
Tue. Oct 14, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Nichushkin is expected to sit out for the next week in order to rest his sore groin, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact: Nichushkin nursed the groin injury through most of the preseason and never seemed to recover from it as quickly as the Stars had hoped, so they'll hope that the issue clears up with some further time off the ice. While Nichushkin remains out, it looks like Colton Sceviour will receive the first opportunity to replace him on the top line, where he'll join Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn.
Tue. Oct 14, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Sceviour will serve as the Stars' top-line right wing Tuesday against the Blue Jackets.
Impact: With Valeri Nichushkin (groin/hip) unavailable for the game, Sceviour will ride shotgun with Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin for the night, perhaps making him an enviable player to own in daily formats. Nichushkin's injury is not considered a long-term concern at this time, however, so Sceviour could notice a steady decline in his ice time after Tuesday.
Tue. Oct 14, 2014 | RotoWire
News: The Stars recalled McKenzie from AHL Texas on Tuesday, Mike Heika of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact: McKenzie was just sent down Monday, but he will come right back up to provide some forward depth with Valeri Nichushkin (groin) out Tuesday night.
Tue. Oct 14, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Lehtonen is on track to start Tuesday's game against the Blue Jackets, Mike Heika of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact: Lehtonen was the first goalie off the ice following Tuesday's morning skate, which puts him in position to start Tuesday night. He was a hard-luck loser in his first start of the season, picking up the loss despite giving up just two goals in 65:00 TOI.
Tue. Oct 14, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Nichushkin (groin) will not play in Tuesday's game against the Blue Jackets, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact: Nichushkin returned to Texas after suffering a groin/hip injury during Monday's practice, so he will not suit up Tuesday night. It remains to be seen both who will replace him on the Stars' top line, and how much additional action he will miss.
Mon. Oct 13, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Nichushkin (groin/hip) left Monday's practice early, Mark Stepneski of the team's official site reports.
Impact: Nichushkin can't seem to shake this nagging combination of lower-body injuries, and it could cause him to miss Tuesday's game against the Blue Jackets. The winger has yet to crack the score sheet through two games so far this season.
Mon. Oct 13, 2014 | RotoWire
News: The Stars reassigned McKenzie to AHL Texas on Monday.
Impact: McKenzie was named the AHL's most outstanding rookie last season, and if he continues to produce at the lower level, there's a good chance he'll be brought back up to the NHL again at some point this season.
Sun. Oct 12, 2014 | STATS
News: Lindback lost his Stars debut Saturday.
Impact: Lindback finished with 29 saves as he returned to Nashville to face his first NHL team.
Oct 12, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Roussel tallied a goal in Saturday's loss to the Predators.
Impact: Roussel, who was one of four Stars players to finish with a positive plus/minus rating on the evening, has a goal and assist through two games. As per usual, Roussel also displayed his chippiness on defense Saturday, accruing 14 penalty minutes on three infractions.
Oct 12, 2014 | RotoWire
News: McKenzie was recalled from AHL Texas on Sunday.
Impact: The 23-year-old winger scored a goal and added an assist in the AHL Stars' season opener on Saturday, and was named the circuit's most outstanding rookie last season. This will be McKenzie's first appearance in the NHL, but it is unclear how long he will be with the Stars, so he doesn't have high value even in deeper leagues.
Sat. Oct 11, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Lindback made 29 saves on 32 shots in Saturday's loss to the Predators.
Impact: Lindback stopped the first 20 shots he faced on Saturday, before giving up three goals on the next six. The former Predator isn't expected to see too much action this season, with Kari Lehtonen the clear No.1 goalie in Dallas. If Lehtonen does happen to go down with an injury at any point, Lindback could be worth a fantasy pickup behind an offensively talented Stars team.
Sat. Oct 11, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Lindback was the first goalie off the ice and is expected to receive the starting nod Saturday against the Predators, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact: So long as No. 1 goalie Kari Lehtonen stays relatively healthy this season, Lindback projects to see only minimal usage this season. However, it looks like coach Lindy Ruff will ease Lehtonen into his heavy workload, as he'll get an early-season breather. Lindback is expected to match up against Nashville netminder Pekka Rinne, but don't count on him to deliver impressive results.
Sat. Oct 11, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Nemeth appears to have solidified a role on the Stars' third pairing, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact: Nemeth will be in the lineup Saturday for the second straight game, with Jamie Oleksiak replacing Kevin Connauton as his mate for this outing. The blueliner doesn't have much of an NHL track record to go off of, keeping him largely off the fantasy radar until his production warrants further attention.
Sat. Oct 11, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Seguin (illness) was on ice for Saturday's morning skate and looks prepared to play against the Predators, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact: Though he sat out Friday's practice while feeling under the weather, it doesn't sound like Seguin was ever at serious risk of missing any game action. Perhaps with the day off to recover, Seguin will bring some more energy to Saturday's game, after he attempted just one shot on goal in Thursday's opener.
Fri. Oct 10, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Cole slotted back in as the second-line left wing at Friday's practice.
Impact: Relegated to checking-line duty in Thursday's opener after he was late for practice earlier in the week, Cole seems to have served his time for the infraction. Cole will more than likely play on the second line Saturday against the Predators, where he'll be joined by Jason Spezza and Ales Hemsky.
Fri. Oct 10, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Eakin notched a goal in Thursday's season opener against the Blackhawks.
Impact: A contract dispute that kept Eakin out of training camp until the final week didn't seem to hurt him too much, as he tied for the team lead with four shots on goal in his 18:31 of action. He'll have a good chance at replicating 35-point production he supplied in 2013-14.
Fri. Oct 10, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Daley scored a power-play goal in Thursday's shootout loss to the Blackhawks.
Impact: Daley was able to take advantage of a four-minute high-sticking penalty by the Blackhawks' Niklas Hjalmarsson, producing the first of two Dallas goals in the second period. The blueliner sizzled for the Stars in their first-round playoff exit last season and seems to be carrying a scorer's mentality into 2014-15 -- at least so far. With Stephane Robidas no longer in the fold, Daley should see ample ice time on the Stars' top pairing, which could net him the best production of his career.
Fri. Oct 10, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Dillon logged 23:25 of ice time in Thursday's shootout loss to the Blackhawks, finishing with two shots on goal, four penalty minutes and a plus-1 rating in his 35 shifts.
Impact: Despite Dillon's abbreviated training camp, the Stars didn't seem to limit him at all in the season opener, as he actually saw the ice for two minutes more than his average last season (21:06). His meager offensive upside probably limits his utility to deeper formats, but he's at least a moderate contributor to just about every category.
Fri. Oct 10, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Lehtonen was at the wrong end of a shootout loss Thursday against the Blackhawks.
Impact: Lehtonen played respectably in regulation, turning away 24 of 26 shots to at least allow the Stars to come away with a point. He'll likely be back in goal when the Stars head to Nashville for Saturday's contest.
Fri. Oct 10, 2014 | STATS
News: Eakin scored a go-ahead goal in the second period of Dallas' season-opening loss to Chicago.
Impact: The 23-year-old got the first opening-night point of his career less than two weeks after ending a contract holdout by signing a two-year deal worth an average of $1.9 million per season.
Fri. Oct 10, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Seguin missed Friday's practice due to an illness, NHL.com's Mark Stepneski reports.
Impact: The Stars expect Seguin to be ready to go for Saturday's game against Nashville, but those who own him in formats with daily lineups will want to verify after morning skate that he's back healthy. Seguin was mostly a non-factor in Thursday's season-opening loss to the Blackhawks, as he finished with no points on one shot attempt in 18:34 of ice time.
Thu. Oct 9, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Garbutt (illness) was on the ice for line rushes during morning skate and looks set to play Thursday against the Blackhawks, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact: Garbutt skipped Tuesday's practice due to the illness, but it wasn't debilitating enough to keep him out of commission for opening night. He'll play on the third line, joining Cody Eakin and Antoine Roussel.
Thu. Oct 9, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Cole will be a healthy scratch in Thursday's season opener due to being late for practice on Monday, according to Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News.
Impact: This is disappointing news for owners in deep leagues. But there's no indication that this punishment will be ongoing, so he should be back in the lineup soon.
Thu. Oct 9, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Lehtonen is on track to start Thursday's game against the Blackhawks, Mark Stepneski of the Stars' official website reports.
Impact: Lehtonen suffered a mild concussion in late September, but the setback will not prevent him from taking the ice in Thursday's season opener. He will be tested out of the gate against a Chicago squad that finished second in the league in scoring last season with 3.18 goals per game.
Wed. Oct 8, 2014 | STATS
News: Gonchar is out at least three weeks with a broken ankle.
Impact: Gonchar could return in the middle of November.
Wed. Oct 8, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Oleksiak, who won a 23-man roster spot with the Stars in training camp, is expected to serve as their seventh defenseman in the early stages of the season, NHL.com's Mark Stepneski reports.
Impact: Oleksiak offers hulking size on defense, but it has yet to translate into any meaningful production at the NHL level. He could head back to AHL Texas once Sergei Gonchar (ankle) is activated from injured reserve a few weeks from now.
Tue. Oct 7, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Nichushkin (illness) was back at practice Tuesday, NHL.com's Mark Stepneski reports.
Impact: A muscle pull and an illness limited Nichushkin over the weekend, but only knocked him out for a couple days. What's more notable than his return to practice is the fact that he was used on the third line with Antoine Roussel and Cody Eakin on Tuesday, after working with Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin for most of the preseason. Coach Lindy Ruff may have just been experimenting with combinations, but if the move to a bottom-six role becomes more permanent, Nichushkin's fantasy value would take a massive hit.
Tue. Oct 7, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Peverley (chest) was placed on the Stars' non-roster injury list Tuesday.
Impact: Peverley remains limited to off-ice conditioning work as he seeks to return from the cardiac emergency he suffered last March in a game against the Blue Jackets. The Stars have no timetable for his return and likely aren't counting on getting any major contributions from him this season.
Tue. Oct 7, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gonchar (ankle) was placed on injured reserve Monday.
Impact: Gonchar is not expected to return until early November due to a severe ankle injury. His injury will pave the way for youngster Jamie Oleksiak to make the Stars' Opening Night roster.
Tue. Oct 7, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Garbutt is out of practice due to illness, according to Mark Stepneski of NHL.com.
Impact: There's no timetable for his return, but it seems likely he'll be feeling better by opening night.
