What teams play on Hockey Night in Canada this week?

Which teams will play on Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday October 23rd?

Hockey Night in Canada is in full force and in its second edition of the 2016-17 NHL season. After memorable first week, the matchups on Saturday Oct. 23 should be even better. The games feature a classic rivalry between two Original Six teams and a showdown between two of the most popular franchises in hockey. Coverage begins at 6:30 PM EST.

It starts with a triple header of games beginning at 7:00 PM EST. The Toronto Maple Leafs travel to the United Center to take on the Chicago Blackhawks. This should be an interesting matchup, and perhaps a symbolic one. While the Blackhawks have been great in recent years, their window is slowly closing. Meanwhile, the Maple Leafs are a very young and promising team.

Fans won’t want to miss the next chapter in the historic rivalry between the Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins. The rivalry will get its first look at the post-Subban era and perhaps a first look at a new villain in Andrew Shaw. These two teams hate each other and it’s always fun to watch them play. The Tampa Bay Lightning travel to Ottawa to take on the Ottawa Senators in a game between two Atlantic Division rivals.

At 10:00 PM EST, there will be a doubleheader of games. The Vancouver Cancuks travel to the Staples Center to take on the Los Angeles Kings. These two teams are Pacific Division rivals and it should be a great hockey game. Also, the Calgary Flames will host the St. Louis Blues. This will be the first game between the two teams since the Blues traded Brian Elliott to the Flames. That storyline should be an interesting one, though the Flames aren’t off to a good start.
