Johnny Gaudreau missed 10 games with a broken finger, but it only took him one shot to become a difference-maker for the Flames in his return on Sunday night.
The 23-year-old winger scored on his very first attempt of the night, beating Ducks goalie Jonathan Bernier with a shot just a few minutes into the game. It was a shot that Bernier probably should have stopped, but it set the tone for the rest of the night as Calgary went on to crush Anaheim by a final score of 8-3.
Gaudreau had two points in the win, which is a great sign for a Flames team that felt his absence. Gaudreau's return comes less than three weeks after surgery on that broken finger, which was originally expected to keep him out four to six weeks.
His early return was made possible thanks to a special new glove that provides some extra protection.
Here's to hoping the glove helps keep Gaudreau in the lineup.
