The 24-year-old split last season between the Rangers and the Ottawa Senators scoring six goals and putting up three assists for nine points in 40 games. The nine points he registered on the entire season came in the 27 games he played for the Rangers. While he didn't put up a load of points, he still had some solid accomplishments last season.

Puempel ranked third in goals per 60 minutes for the Rangers and was also tied for sixth in goals per game. He made his debut for New York on November 25th, 2016 against the Flyers and scored his first career hat trick December 29th, 2016 against Arizona. He also became the first Ranger to score three power play goals in one game since Mike Gartner in 1994, not too shabby.

The former first-round pick by Ottawa in 2011 has played a total of 79 career NHL games over the last three seasons registering 15 points and 28 minutes in penalties. He made his NHL debut February 21st, 2015 against the Florida Panthers and scored his first NHL goal against Boston on March 10th, 2015.
