The last time Elias took the ice with the Devils was the final few games of the 2015-16 season. A knee injury kept Elias sidelined most of the season and in the off season he underwent knee surgery. Now that the 2016-17 season is about to pass, Elias has formally announced his retirement.

Though Elias won't take the ice with the Devils each night in the Prudential Center, Elias will still be remembered with his number in the rafters.

The Devils and the fans will miss Elias as he departs from the organization but the player will always be remembered as one of New Jersey's best Devils.
