Jaromir Jagr 4 Points From No.2 on NHL's All-Time Points List

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 7:05 p.m. ET

Florida Panther and NHL Legend Jaromir Jagr is Just Four Points From Passing NHL Legend Mark Messier on the NHL’s All-Time Points List. It Won’t Take Long for the Forward to Notch the points and Take Second Place.

Jaromir Jagr is on the brink of beating out NHL legend Mark Messier for the second place spot on the NHL’s all-time points list. The 44-year-old is still kicking in the NHL and getting points hasn’t been hard for Jagr to do.

If Jagr keeps his pace he will pass Messier in just a few games. Contrary to what many might believe, Messier is in awe of Jagr, hence, he is rooting for the forward.

Jagr is ready to take second place and it wasn’t too long ago that he beat Gordie Howe’s record of 1,850. It won’t take long for Jagr to pass Messier and fans are rooting for him.

Praise from Messier

Messier has expressed his support of Jagr and has only had good things to say about him. Furthermore, Messier told reporters that he admires how far Jagr has come and that for him to do so he must have really put his love for the game first.

Messier stated that he gives Jagr credit for how well he has been able to sustain himself and keep his play alive in a game that is increasingly becoming a younger man’s sport.

The legend later stated that he is shocked that he has held second place for as long as he did because he has “never considered [himself] an elite scorer.” Messier was humbled that he made the top-10 list before his final season in 2003-04.

Regardless, Messier is waiting for Jagr to pass his point total. The two former teammates have always been supportive of each other and this time is no different.

Future Legend, Jaromir Jagr

Jagr is currently with the Florida Panthers but has donned a few team jerseys during his career. He has played for eight teams since beginning his career in 1990 including the Pittsburgh Penguins and the New York Rangers.

Jagr has 755 goals and 1,129 points in his career of 1,660 games, and he isn’t stopping yet. Despite turning 45 this coming February, Jagr has refused to slow down his pace of play. The forward has been able to play alongside players half his age and beat them too.

This season Jagr has six goals and 10 assists in 31 games with the Panthers. Despite Florida’s rough season so far, Jagr has continued to support the team and perform.

NHL fans are very supportive of Jagr’s seemingly never-ending career. In fact, NHL fans voted Jagr as the Atlantic Division captain for the 2016 NHL All-Star Game. Despite telling fans he was “too old” to attend the games, he did and he even grabbed a goal. Following the game, Jagr said he was glad he was there.

Jagr will be an NHL legend and many would argue that he already is. The 44-year-old defies his age and plays just as well as the rookies on his team. The Panther is a dedicated hockey player who wants nothing more than to do what he loves. Who doesn’t love having a passionate guy like that on their team?

    Headed to Second Place

Jagr is ready to take second place on the NHL’s all-time points list. It won’t be hard for the forward to notch the four points that stand between him and grabbing second, therefore, Jagr fans will be waiting.

Soon Jagr will take second place and it will be a memorable moment. Jagr deserves this because he has given his all for his love of hockey and his mark in NHL history won’t be forgotten.

There is only one question to be asked now: Will Jagr take second place before or after the new year?

Jaromir Jagr will take the ice with the Florida Panthers for their next matchup against the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 7:30 ET on home ice.
