Islanders Win Wild Fourteen Round Shootout

The Islanders get their first road win of the season as Nick Leddy scores the game winner in the shootout.

The Islanders won their first road game of the year and it was a wild one to say the least. The Isles were down 1-0 just 1:04 into this one as Cam Fowler took advantage on the power play.

The rookie Anthony Beauvillier took a bad penalty and the Ducks took advantage. Although the Islanders struck right back and were able to tie the game and take the lead in the first period.

It was Adam Pelech who scored his first NHL goal and Josh Bailey added a nice power play goal to give the Isles the lead after the first period.

The score would remain the same through the second period. Although the Islanders still looked like the better team. The momentum switched in the third period. The Ducks came out and had a ton of chances in the third before finally tying it up from a Rickard Rakell goal.

The madness ensued once the third period and OT concluded. The shootout was absolutely wild. The Ducks scored four times to put the pressure on the Islanders but each time they responded right back and scored to keep the shootout alive.

Thomas Hickey‘s goal was a controversial one as it went to review. It would remain a goal.

Once round 14 rolled around the Isles were down to defenseman and Nick Leddy stole the show.

A much needed win for the Islanders. They made us stay up late for it, but it was a fun one. On to Los Angeles later tonight.
