Islanders rookie gets pranked in hometown debut, makes dad cry after scoring goal

Anthony Beauvillier was born in Quebec, meaning he was one of many kids who grew up watching the Montreal Canadiens play at the Bell Centre and dreaming of one day being able to do the same.

On Thursday night, that opportunity finally came. The 19-year-old rookie forward suited up for the Islanders and prepared to take on the Habs in his hometown in front of family in the crowd.

Beauvillier's Islanders teammates were clearly aware of how special the night was to him, and they decided to have some fun with it. Before the opening puck drop, the rookie fell victim to a classic hockey prank when he was asked to lead the team out onto the ice for pregame warmups. Nobody followed his lead.

But the fun wasn't over for the rookie. He wasted little time in making his homecoming really special, as he found the back of the net just a little over five minutes into his hometown debut. As you can imagine, that goal was an emotional affair for his family in attendance. It even made his dad cry.

It was always going to be a pretty special night for Beauvillier, but it was made just a little bit more memorable with the way things unfolded.
