The Boston Bruins welcomed back their former goaltender to the tune of six goals Tuesday night, prompting Tim Thomas’ frustration to reach an all-time high late in the game.
For the third consecutive game, the B’s erupted for half a dozen goals and the offensive showing started to take its toll on the Florida Panthers netminder. The Bruins’ attack was relentless throughout three periods, and even when the game was put away, Carl Soderberg still tried to add another tally.
With only four seconds remaining in the final period, Soderberg ran into Thomas as he was going hard to the net to try to tip in a deflection. Thomas didn’t take kindly to the contact and he responded by lunging at Soderberg’s neck with his goalie stick. Thomas was assessed a high-sticking minor on the play.
