Tyler Seguin experienced plenty of success with the Boston Bruins after being selected with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2010 draft, including winning the Stanley Cup his rookie season.

Still, he wasn't shocked when he was shipped to the Dallas Stars in an offseason trade for a package that included forward Loui Eriksson, who could be making his return in time for the teams' first meeting since the deal Tuesday night in Boston.

"I heard the rumors around the draft and when the day came I wasn't too surprised," Seguin said of the July 4 trade that sent him, Rich Peverley and Ryan Button to Dallas for Eriksson, Reilly Smith, Matt Fraser and Joe Morrow. "They had their reasons. I don't think you can put it on one particular reason. I've moved on and I am excited to be where I am."

Seguin, who also helped Boston come within two victories of winning another Stanley Cup last season, has team highs of six goals and 15 points for the Stars (6-6-2) and is experiencing mixed emotions regarding his first visit to TD Garden as the opponent.

"I have no idea what to expect, but I am excited," the 21-year-old said. "I saw some of the guys when I got in (Sunday) and it's going to be a cool experience. There were a lot of good memories here. I am not a part of Boston anymore, but it is always going to be a part of me."

Peverley, who spent 2 1/2 seasons with the Bruins, has similar feelings about his return.

"There's guys over there who I've developed life-long relationships with," he said. "It'll be hard, but it'll be no different than practicing against them. Those guys practice hard."

Eriksson, who has missed the last five games, returned to contact drills Monday after recovering from a concussion suffered on an illegal hit from Buffalo defenseman John Scott on Oct. 23.

"I've been skating for a couple of days now and I'm feeling better, so we'll see about (Tuesday)," Eriksson said. "I'm getting there and feeling better and better each day."

Eriksson scored at least 26 goals in the last four full seasons for the Stars before netting 12 in the 48-game schedule last season.

"You always want to get back out there playing games, especially (Tuesday because) it's going to be a big game for me," Eriksson said. "We'll see."

Boston (8-5-0) could use a spark after falling 3-1 to the New York Islanders on Saturday, marking its third loss in four contests following a four-game winning streak.

Dougie Hamilton scored and Chad Johnson made 31 saves in place of Tuukka Rask, who had the night off for rest.

"We weren't focused or sharp enough," coach Claude Julien said. "We'll be working hard to get the team back on track."

Dallas regrouped after a two-game skid to beat Ottawa 4-3 on Sunday, as Jamie Benn scored the winner in the shootout to begin a three-game road trip. Seguin assisted on Ray Whitney's first-period goal, giving him two goals and three assists over his last four.

"It's obviously big to get those two and start the road trip on the right foot," Benn said. "It wasn't an easy two points and we really didn't help ourselves out too much. We gave up a couple, but found a way to win in the shootout."

Kari Lehtonen stopped all three attempts in the shootout and could be in net for this game. He's 1-3-0 with a 3.03 goals-against average in his last four appearances - three starts - versus the Bruins.

Lehtonen made 18 saves as Dallas won the most recent meeting 4-2 on Dec. 31, 2011, ending a three-game losing streak against Boston. Seguin scored for the Bruins and Eriksson had a goal for the Stars.
