Rangers re-sign goaltender Biron

Biron, who agreed to his new deal with New York on Friday, could have become an unrestricted NHL free agent on Sunday.
The 34-year-old Biron, the backup to Vezina Trophy winner Henrik Lundqvist, was 20-12-2 with a 2.32 goals-against average the past two seasons with New York. He also had a .912 save percentage and two shutouts in 38 games.
The 14-year NHL veteran has played in 500 regular-season games with the Buffalo Sabres, Philadelphia Flyers, New York Islanders and Rangers. He has 228 games, a 2.61 GAA, .a 911 save percentage and 28 shutouts.
Biron was selected 16th overall by Buffalo in the 1995 NHL draft.
