Proof Buffalo Sabres are ready to leave this season behind

It's been a year to forget for the Buffalo Sabres.

The Buffalo Sabres had a rough 2013-14 season.

They parted ways with familiar faces in forward Thomas Vanek and goaltender Ryan Miller.

Their general Darcy Regier and first-year coach Ron Rolston – the replacement for long-time bench manager Lindy Ruff — were fired.

And they finished dead last in the NHL with a 21-51-10 record.

So it’s no wonder the team is looking forward to better days.

That brings us to this tweet the Sabres sent out Thursday:

On the one hand, you can’t blame Buffalo for being pumped about holding the second pick and the chance of nabbing a top talent. And if TV ratings are any indication, Buffalo has some of the craziest hockey fans, so maybe their supporters are right with them on this.

But something about a countdown to the NHL Entry Draft in the middle of the Stanley Cup Final is inherently sad.

But most importantly, these minions got us thinking: How sweet would Buffalo Sabres overall-themed third jerseys be?
