News: Hainsey recorded his third point of the season - an assist on Elias Lindholm's empty-net goal - to help seal a 4-1 win over the Maple Leafs on Friday.
Impact: Hainsey's days as a blueliner who can contribute offensively are long gone - the last time he recorded more than 20 points in a season was back in 2009-10 when he posted five goals and 21 helpers for the Jets. These days, the best the 33-year old Hainsey can do is take care of business in his own zone. He does currently rank second on the team in blocked shots with 50, but his plus-minus rating of -9 leaves something to be desired. Bottom line, Hainsey's shortcomings far outweigh his positive attributes. For fantasy purposes, it's best to avoid using him if possible.

News: Hainsey has just a single assist in 13 games so far this season, but leads the Hurricanes in blocked shots with 25.
Impact: Hainsey's offensive game has been on the decline for several years now, having not cracked the 20-point barrier since the 2009-10 season with Winnipeg. However, he still brings a solid defensive game, which makes him much more valuable to the Canes than it does to fantasy owners. Overall, there's not much fantasy value here unless you play in a very deep league that counts blocks.
