News: Girgensons scored in his second straight game in a 6-2 loss to Chicago on Saturday. Impact: At this rate, head coach Ted Nolan will have to play Girgensons much more than his current average of 15 minutes. One game after being promoted to the second line, Girgensons was Johnny-on-the-stop off an Andrej Meszaros rebound in the first period to put the Sabres on the board. The Sabres allowed 40-plus shots for the second straight game and good fantasy players generally don't come from bad teams, but Girgensons is a name to keep for the future.(RotoWire, )

News: Girgensons has moved up to the second line to play with Cody Hodgson and Brian Gionta, reports the Olean Times Herald. Impact: Head coach Ted Nolan said Girgensons was their best player in their season opener against Columbus, scoring the lone goal in a 3-1 loss. This is good news for Girgensons and fantasy owners who are keeping an eye on the Latvian Olympian. The Sabres believe he has more offense to offer despite being billed as a two-way player and he'll get the chance to shine with Hodgson and Gionta. Girgensons takes Sam Reinhart's spot, as Reinhart will be dropped to the third line with Marcus Foligno and Chris Stewart. Girgensons played a little over 15 minutes in the season opener but with an expanded role and strong performances, he could creep close to 17 or 18 minutes a game. The Sabres are taking a wait-and-see approach with their young players, but there's no doubt Girgensons is already one of their best players.(RotoWire, )

News: Girgensons scored the Sabres' only goal in a 3-1 loss to Columbus on Thursday, and named the second star of the game. Impact: Girgensons mustered two shots on net and won eight of 15 faceoffs despite playing just 15:19. The Sabres believe Grigensons has more to offer offensively and intend to put him in scoring situations a lot more, so they're off to a good start. But the Sabres tested Sergei Bobrovsky just 22 times and had trouble generating offense against a stout Columbus defense, so goals may be hard to come by again this year. Girgensons is a player to watch for the future, but has limited fantasy value in the present.(RotoWire, )
