News: Chara (knee) was placed on injured reserve Friday. Impact: The move comes as little surprise after Chara was ruled out four-to-six weeks after suffering a PCL tear in his left knee Thursday night. Zach Trotman and Joe Morrow were recalled from AHL Providence in corresponding moves to give the Bruins some replacement options on the blue line.(RotoWire, )

News: Per GM Peter Chiarelli, surgery is not considered a likely option for Chara, who sustained a tear in the posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in Thursday's game against the Islanders, the Bruins' official site reports. Impact: While Chiarelli fell short of declaring that surgery has been 100 percent ruled out, at this stage it does not seem a likely outcome for Chara, who the report confirms will be out 4-6 weeks. In the absence of Chara, at Friday's practice, the Bruins' top two defensive pairings appeared to be Dennis Seidenberg/Dougie Hamilton and Torey Krug/Adam McQuaid.(RotoWire, )

News: The Bruins confirmed Friday that Chara suffered a PCL tear in his left knee Thursday against the Islanders, Joe Haggerty of CSNNE.com reports. Chara will miss four-to-six weeks and will not require surgery. Impact: Friday's update verifies the initial recovery timetable indicated a day earlier for Chara, who left the game against the Islanders after colliding with John Tavares midway through the first period. The absence of Chara is a devastating hit to a team that had been struggling defensively through the first three weeks of the season. The Bruins recalled Zach Trotman and Joe Morrow from AHL Providence on Friday to add some depth to the blue line in the interim.(RotoWire, )

News: Chara is dealing with a knee ligament injury and is expected to miss at least four-to-six weeks, Aaron Ward of TSN reports. Impact: It's yet to be determined whether he'll need to undergo surgery, which could sideline him for even longer. The Bruins have been off to a slow start this season, and losing their captain for an extended period of time just when they seemed to be turning the corner won't help. The team will probably add a defenseman from the AHL before Saturday's game.(RotoWire, )

News: Chara tore a ligament in his knee and will miss four to six weeks. Impact: General manager Peter Chiarelli said the 2009 Norris Trophy winner will not need surgery on the posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. Chiarelli said it was good news in that other ligaments in the knee would require a longer recovery. Chara left Thursday night's game against the Islanders in the first period, one shift after a collision with New York forward John Tavares. (STATS, 7:36pm)

News: Chara left Thursday's game in the first period and won't return. Impact: Chara's injury is undisclosed at this point, but it's at least serious enough for him to sit for the remainder of the game. The Bruins next play Saturday, so Chara's status should become clearer sometime Friday.(RotoWire, )

News: Chara left Thursday's game against the Islanders in the first period, after he laid a hard hit on John Tavares, Joe Haggerty of CSNNE.com reports. Impact: It's usually the opponent that comes away sore following a check from the big-bodied Chara, but the defenseman seemed to be worse off after this particular collision. He didn't return for the remainder of the first period after suffering the injury, but the Bruins haven't officially ruled him out from returning. Stay tuned for a further update on his condition.(RotoWire, )

News: Chara recorded his second goal of the season in Saturday's win over the Sabres. Impact: Chara opened the new campaign with five straight games without a point, but he's since bagged a goal in each of the last two games. He turned in his most active performance of the young season Saturday, attempting a team-high seven shots, blocking three more on defense, and finishing with a plus-2 rating over his 29 shifts.(RotoWire, )

News: Chara scored his first goal of the season Thursday against the Canadiens, but finished minus-3 in the defeat. Impact: Though Chara has put up a decent amount of shots (19) through six games, the Bruins' collective offensive nosedive has denied the blueliner of opportunities to pick up any assists. Chara got off to a similarly slow start to the 2013-14 season before the Bruins offense heated up, and his fantasy owners can only hope that narrative repeats itself again.(RotoWire, )
