News: The Blue Jackets have resumed negotiations with Johansen's agent, the Columbus Dispatch reports. Impact: The Johansen camp suddenly has a bit more leverage with the news that Boone Jenner suffered a broken hand during Sunday's practice and will miss the beginning of the regular season. There's no report of any movement towards a contract yet, but a two-year bridge deal for something in the vicinity of $4 million a season seems a little more probable than it did last week.(RotoWire, )

News: Johansen has decreased his contract demands and has gone back to the Blue Jackets with an offer of a two-year deal worth $9.4 million, reports TSN.ca. The offer is down more than $2 million a season from the original offer from his camp, but is still $1.7 million from the team's last position. Impact: The Jackets are unlikely to bite given their insistence on pursuing a bridge-style contract with their most talented player.(RotoWire, )

News: The latest contract offer from the Johansen camp, rejected by the Blue Jackets on Thursday, is reportedly for two years and $12 million, the Columbus Dispatch reports. Impact: That's down a million from their last proposal, which is some sign of progress, but it's still double the Jackets' offer of two years and $6 million. With multiple KHL teams inserting themselves into the mix, including a one year, $5 million offer from CSKA Moscow, things could get very interesting over the next few weeks.(RotoWire, )

News: Johansen is set to receive a contract offer from CSKA Moscow of the KHL, reports TSN.ca. The deal is expected to be for one year and $5 million. Impact: The Jackets and Johansen are at an impasse in salary negotiations. Johansen doesn't think he should have to sign for measly RFA money and instead go straight to the rich house, while the Jackets think he should prove his mettle with a P.K. Subban-like bridge contract. Still, reports indicate the team has offered as much as $32 million for six years and $46 million over eight, so those aren't exactly "bridge." Johansen sniped 33 goals and ended with 63 points in 82 games last season. A move to the KHL is unlikely, but leverage is leverage.(RotoWire, )

News: The Blue Jackets have rejected the latest contract offer from Johansen's agent Kurt Overhardt, the Columbus Dispatch reports. Impact: This isn't a big surprise, as the increasingly bitter negotiations seem poised to drag on for a while yet. Brandon Dubinsky, who is also represented by Overhardt and went through his own nine-day absence from camp during his days as an RFA with the Rangers, says that the locker room will welcome the young center back without reservation once the contract dispute is settled, so that's at least a sliver of good news for Johansen owners.(RotoWire, )

News: Johansen's agent, Kurt Overhardt, has sent a new two-year contract proposal in to the Blue Jackets, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports. Impact: The two sides were reportedly about $3.5 million per year apart when Johansen left camp, so while this latest offer likely didn't close the gap much, it's encouraging to see that there's at least some movement.(RotoWire, )

News: Johansen has flown home to Vancouver after last-minute talks between the Blue Jackets and his agent failed to produce a contract agreement, the Columbus Dispatch reports. Impact: Club president John Davidson took the unusual step of publicly announcing the various contracts Johansen had been offered and turned down, which ranged from a two-year, $6 million deal to eight years and $46 million, while agent Kurt Overhardt is said to be seeking a two-year, $13 million deal as a 'bridge' contract to take the RFA into his arbitration years. With the two sides still so far apart, Johansen could be facing a lengthy absence from training camp, so unless things change in a hurry, you'll need to start dropping Johansen on your cheat sheets.(RotoWire, )

News: Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen dropped strong hints that the club would stop negotiating with Johansen's agent once training camp begins Thursday, the Columbus Dispatch reports. Impact: Meanwhile, club president John Davidson described agent Kurt Overhardt's contract proposals as "embarrassing" and "absurd", and said that while the Jackets are using Matt Duchene's bridge deal as a reasonable point of comparison, Overhardt has been tossing around names like Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Toews. Public statements like these are clearly a negotiating tactic, but the Jackets do have enough depth at center that they could try to survive the loss of Johansen, last season's top scorer, by shifting Boone Jenner into the middle or possibly giving a prospect like Alexander Wennberg a long look.(RotoWire, )
