News: Johansen's point streak now stands at five games and seven points after he picked up an assist in Saturday's loss to Ottawa. Impact: Hmmmm ... does Columbus actually have a star? You bet they do. Johansen is showing that last year was no fluke. Take advantage. #hotinohio(RotoWire, )

News: Johansen scored a power-play goal in Friday's 3-2 win over the Flames. Impact: He now has six points (three goals, three assists) with six shots on goal and four hits through the Jackets' first four games, while winning 60 percent (45-for-75) of his faceoffs. Johansen is making the rest of the NHL look silly for wasting their time with training camp.(RotoWire, )

News: Johansen scored his first two goals in a loss to Dallas on Tuesday. Impact: Johansen is off to a strong start with two goals and three assists in three games.(STATS, 4:51pm)

News: Johansen accounted for all the Jackets' offense in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Stars, scoring his first two goals of the year. Impact: Johansen only took one shot on goal in his first two games this year after missing the whole preseason due to a contract dispute, but he'd managed three assists anyway. Now, with five points in three games, he's officially hot. Just think how good he'll be once he gets all the way back in terms of conditioning.(RotoWire, )

News: Johansen admitted Sunday that his conditioning is not quite where it needs to be, the Columbus Dispatch reports. "I don't feel quite like myself yet, but it's coming," Johansen said. "I feel close to everybody else. It might look similar. But I still need to get my conditioning up another 10 seconds or so at high speed." Impact: The '10 seconds' is in reference to his shift length, which the Blue Jackets have wisely kept in the range of 35-to-40 seconds so far rather than the 45-to-50 seconds Johansen is accustomed to. Despite the conditioning issue, Johansen has still looked dominant at times through the first two games, and as long as the club keeps him from playing fatigued, he should be able to avoid a serious injury. So far, it looks like his contract dispute will have no lasting implications at all, which is excellent news for Johansen and his fantasy owners.(RotoWire, )

News: Johansen had two assists Saturday for the Jackets. Impact: Johansen is one of the NHL's best-kept secrets but he is a star who has big-time ability, make no mistake about it.(STATS, 3:25pm)
Oct 12, 2014
News: Johansen notched two assists in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Rangers. Impact: Despite missing basically all of training camp due to a contract dispute, Johansen hasn't looked rusty at all, dominating in the faceoff circle on Saturday (winning 11 of 17) and picking up three assists through the Jackets' first two games. If you were able to pick him up at a discount due to the contract squabble, you may have gotten a bargain.(RotoWire, )

News: Johansen assisted on Cam Atkinson's game-winning power-play goal in Thursday's victory over the Sabres. Impact: As expected, Johansen saw far less ice time than the 17:39 he averaged last season, finishing with just over 14 minutes on the night. The Blue Jackets figure to limit Johansen's ice time while he works himself back into playing shape after he missed the entirety of training camp, but it shouldn't be long before he earns back his usual workload. Even in reduced minutes, Johansen should still produce useful production for fantasy owners.(RotoWire, )

News: Johansen was a full participant at morning skate and looks likely to play Thursday against the Sabres, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports. Impact: The Blue Jackets have voiced some concerns about Johansen's conditioning after he missed all of training camp while immersed in a contract dispute, so don't be surprised if he sees a limited minutes load in his season debut. Regardless, he appears set to open on the Jackets' top line this season, with Nick Foligno and Cam Atkinson flanking him on the wings.(RotoWire, )

News: Coach Todd Richards said Johansen isn't necessarily guaranteed to play Thursday against the Sabres, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports. Impact: Richards acknowledged after Wednesday's practice that Johansen's conditioning remains a concern, after the center's lengthy holdout kept him out for the entirety of training camp. While he may not be up to full speed just yet, Johansen still seems more likely than not to suit up Thursday, especially since the Blue Jackets will be without three of their other top-six forwards. Richards should provide definitive word on Johansen's status after Thursday's morning skate.(RotoWire, )

News: Johansen has settled his visa issue and is en route to join the Blue Jackets in Columbus, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports. Impact: Johansen ended his long holdout Monday morning, signing a three-year, $12 million deal. With his immigration paperwork receiving proper clearance, he'll depart from Canada, where he had been training on his own while negotiating a new deal with the Jackets. Although the team figures to limit his minutes in the early going due to his lack of involvement in training camp, it shouldn't take long for Johansen to establish himself as the team's top offensive option, especially with Brandon Dubinsky, Nathan Horton and Boone Jenner opening the season on injured reserve.(RotoWire, )
Mon. Oct 6, 2014
News: With the opener just three days away, Johansen ended his lengthy holdout by reaching a 3-year agreement on Monday with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Impact: The 22-year-old Johansen, a restricted free agent, had a career season last year, scoring 33 goals with 30 assists in 82 games after totaling 14 goals and 19 assists in his first 107 NHL games. The Blue Jackets were in dire need of their top scorer returning after losing forwards Boone Jenner (broken hand, out 5 weeks) and Nathan Horton (bad back, out indefinitely) in recent weeks. (STATS, 10:51am)
Mon. Oct 6, 2014
News: According to Blue Jackets' GM Jarmo Kekalainen, Johansen will need "a day or two" to deal with his immigration status before he can suit up for the club, putting his status for Thursday's opener in doubt, the Columbus Dispatch reports. Impact: We should know more about his status later in the week, but even if Johansen misses Thursday's game in Buffalo he should be on the ice Saturday when the Jackets play their home opener against the Rangers.(RotoWire, )
Mon. Oct 6, 2014
News: The Blue Jackets signed Johansen to a three-year, $12 million contract Monday, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports. Impact: Johansen had a breakout season in 2013-14, racking up 33 goals and 30 assists in 82 games. Though negotiations between player and management were highly contentious for most of the summer, it appears both sides have finally found a happy medium. The former first-round pick is still just 22 years old, and should be a cornerstone of the Jackets for the foreseeable future.(RotoWire, )
