News: Green picked up a pair of assists in Thursday's win over the Devils. Impact: Though he's already missed a game to injury, Green's been terrifically productive when on the ice, having racked up five points and a plus-3 rating through three games. The sledding's been tough for the injury-prone blueliner over the last few years, but it's clear that his skills haven't faded -- at least, when he's healthy.(RotoWire, )

News: Green notched a goal, an assist, and attempted three shots in Tuesday's 6-5 shootout loss to San Jose. Impact: The former Norris Trophy candidate is off to a solid start to the season despite playing slightly reduced minutes after the arrival of Matt Niskanen and Brooks Orpik in free agency this summer. Given his inconsistency, and perhaps more importantly his injury history, Green is a boom or bust type of fantasy defenseman. As long as he's healthy and getting power-play time with Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom, he's worth playing every night.(RotoWire, )

News: Green (upper body) notched a goal in his return to the ice Saturday against the Bruins. Impact: The puck-moving blueliner vaulted the Capitals to a 3-0 lead on a one-timer past goalie Tuukka Rask, while the team was riding the man-advantage. The upper-body injury sidelined Green for only one game, but health is an annual concern for the 29-year-old. He should still rank among the better fantasy producers at his position on a per-game basis.(RotoWire, )

News: Green (upper body) was on the ice for morning skate and appears set to return to make his season debut Saturday vs. the Bruins, Alan May of CSN Washington reports. Impact: Though Green was generally expected to play in Thursday's opener, his upper-body injury proved more problematic than initially thought, resulting in his being scratched. It appears he's since made progress in the last two days, which should allow him to slot back in on the team's third pairing next to Nate Schmidt. Green is expected to take a back seat in ice time this season following the July additions of Matt Niskanen and Brooks Orpik in free agency, but he should still offer above-average offense from the blue line when healthy.(RotoWire, )

News: Green (upper body) is questionable to play Saturday against the Bruins, the Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports. Impact: Fortunately for Green's fantasy owners, it looks like there should be a verification of his status one way or the other after Saturday's morning skate. If Green plays Saturday, he would likely displace Nate Schmidt from the lineup.(RotoWire, )

News: Green has an upper-body injury for the Caps. Impact: Green is out for the season opener.(STATS, 3:05pm)
Thu. Oct 9, 2014
News: Green (upper body) will not play in Thursday's game against the Canadiens. Impact: Head coach Barry Trotz said Green is close to playing, but he is not healthy enough to suit up for Thursday's season opener. Nate Schmidt will enter the lineup in Green's place.(RotoWire, )
Thu. Oct 9, 2014
News: Green (upper body) will likely be a game-time decision for Thursday's opener versus the Canadiens, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports. Impact: Green practiced Wednesday without a non-contact jersey and seems more likely than not to play, but coach Barry Trotz said there's still a chance the defenseman could be held out at the last minute as a precaution. If the Caps decide to send Green to the press box, Nat Schmidt would likely join Jack Hillen on the third defensive pairing.(RotoWire, )

News: Green (upper body) is close to being fully recovered from injury, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports. "We'll see where he is [Wednesday], so we can make some decisions on that." Impact: There's still a chance that Green could be out for Thursday's opener against the Canadiens, but if that's the case, it doesn't appear likely he'd miss much time beyond that. The Capitals have kept two extra defensemen on their 23-man roster as insurance for Green's possible unavailability Thursday.(RotoWire, )
