News: Gorges (knee) was moved to injured reserve Tuesday. Impact: Gorges was ruled out for multiple weeks after suffering a knee injury last Tuesday, so moving him to IR will allow the Sabres to open up a roster spot for another player. The blueliner had one point and a minus-8 rating over 17 games.(RotoWire, )

News: Gorges is dealing with a knee injury and it will cost him multiple weeks, Mike Harrington of Buffalo News reports. Impact: Gorges has produced just one point through 17 games this season, also posting a minus-8 rating. Part of that is a product of the team he plays for in Buffalo, but this is still a big blow since Gorges is the team's best shot blocker. In terms of offense, he isn't anywhere near the fantasy radar, but in leagues that count blocked shots, Gorges can be a valuable contributor. The Sabres have had Nikita Zadorov play in Gorges' absence, and still have Mark Pysyk, Chad Ruhwedel and Jake McCabe in the AHL as viable options as well.(RotoWire, )

News: Coach Ted Nolan said he had no update on Gorges' (lower body) condition after Friday's practice, suggesting the blueliner will miss his second straight game, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports. Impact: Gorges was set to undergo further evaluation Friday, so the team could have an update on the exact nature of his injury and a potential return timetable after Saturday's contest. The early indications after Gorges left Tuesday's game were that the injury was more than a day-to-day concern, but the extent of the damage should become more apparent soon.(RotoWire, )

News: Sabres general manager Tim Murray told the Buffalo News that Gorges is expected to remain out for a while with a knee injury. Impact: The defenseman suffered his injury in the second period of a 6-1 loss to St. Louis on Nov. 11.(STATS, 11:29pm)

News: Gorges (lower body) will not play Thursday against the Wild, Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News reports. Impact: Gorges didn't practice Wednesday and looks like he could be in line for a long-term absence, after coach Ted Nolan didn't seem to express much optimism about the blueliner's condition when a lower-body injury forced him out of action Tuesday night. The Sabres should have a better estimate for a return timetable on Gorges once he's evaluated after the team returns to Buffalo on Friday. Andre Benoit will replace him in the lineup Thursday.(RotoWire, )

News: Gorges left Tuesday night's game with an apparent lower body injury and is expected to miss some time. Impact: Head coach Ted Nolan says the injury is "not good," but who knows what that means. Regardless, the Sabres' most reliable defenseman is expected to miss at least Thursday's game. There's been no word on the specifics of the injury, but for a team struggling to keep pucks out of their net, this could be a huge blow. On the flip side, this may lead to more playing time for Nikita Zadorov or a call-up from the minors to get their feet wet at the NHL level.(RotoWire, )

News: Gorges left the Sabres' Tuesday night game against the Blues in the second period and did not return for the third period after suffering an apparent lower body injury, Mike Harrington of reports. Impact: Gorges was hit behind the Buffalo net late in the second period, and did not return to the Sabres' bench for the third period. The team should update Gorges' status in the coming days.(RotoWire, )

News: Gorges assisted on the Sabres' lone goal and finished with a minus-3 rating in their blowout loss to the Penguins on Saturday. Impact: It took a whopping 16 games for Gorges to record his first point of the season. During his tenure with the Canadiens, Gorges never provided much offensive utility, so it's perhaps no surprise that his point totals have fallen off a cliff completely on a Sabres squad that is woefully short on offensive talent. Given his limited scoring ability and the regular hits he'll take to his plus-minus rating, Gorges is more of a liability than an asset in the fantasy realm.(RotoWire, )
