News: Holtby's stellar preseason took a hit Wednesday night as he gave up five goals on 22 shots in 40 minutes of play during the Capitals' 6-1 loss to Buffalo. Impact: Holtby had been perfect in his previous outings, but that was not the case on Wednesday. Now the established No.1 goaltender behind a deeper defense, the Saskatchewan native should have a bounce back season, and given the upside of playing for a Barry Trotz team, is still worth taking in all fantasy formats.(RotoWire, )

News: Holtby has posted a "clean sheet" through four periods over two preseason games, Alex Prewitt of The Washington Post reports. Impact: Holtby has faced 40 shots in that span, and although it is only preseason action, the undisputed starting goaltender for the Capitals this season has looked solid. Given head coach Barry Trotz's past success with goaltenders as well as the defensively minded signings of Matt Niskanen and Brooks Orpik, Holtby could have a solid bounce-back season in D.C. this year. With no one pushing him for starts, Holtby could quite reasonably be a top-10 goaltender, which would make him a huge value in the middle rounds of most fantasy drafts.(RotoWire, )
