News: Khudobin will be in the crease Friday against the Oilers. Impact: Coach Bill Peters will unsurprisingly turn the net over to Khudobin on the heels of another implosion by Cam Ward, who yielded five goals to Calgary on Thursday. After supplying a pair of ugly starts to begin the season, Khudobin has performed better his last two times out, though he has yet to secure his first victory. A match against a similarly struggling Edmonton squad will offer a good opportunity for Khudobin to finally get a tally in the win column.(RotoWire, )

News: Khudobin allowed all three goals in Tuesday's 3-1 loss at Winnipeg. Impact: Khudobin dropped to 0-2-1 with a 2.64 GAA. He'll carry a save percentage of 91.2 into his next start.(STATS, 4:27pm)

News: Khudobin lost for the third consecutive time to open the season Tuesday, giving up three goals on 26 shots. Impact: At least one of the losses was in overtime -- that helps a little, right? Despite the losing efforts, Khudobin hasn't been bad to open the year; the shorthanded Hurricanes have simply not been playing very well. Still, this could open the door for another Cam Ward start Thursday in Calgary.(RotoWire, )

News: Khudobin will be between the pipes for Tuesday's game against the Jets. Impact: Khudobin and Cam Ward alternated starts over the Hurricanes' first four games, but Khudobin will start for the second game in a row after giving up just one goal his last time out. He will take on a Winnipeg team that has lit the lamp just two times over its last four games after scoring six goals in its season opener.(RotoWire, )

News: Khudobin was impressive while stopping 33 of 34 in regulation against the Rangers on Thursday, but he allowed the only goal of the shootout to end up with the loss. Impact: While it's still another loss for the Hurricanes, this easily represents the best start so far this season by a Carolina netminder. Cam Ward appears to be in serious decline and Khudobin is coming off a .926 save mark last season, so the Russian netminder should end up drawing the majority of the starts.(RotoWire, )

News: Khudobin is set to make the start in goal Thursday against the Rangers, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports. Impact: Coach Bill Peters will stick with his pattern of alternating the starts between Khudobin and Cam Ward until one of the goalies catches fire, but neither looks especially close to a breakthrough. After a rough preseason, Khudobin gave up four goals on 31 shots in his first start of the season Saturday against the Islanders. Things probably won't come much easier for him against the Rangers, especially with the Hurricanes playing without their top two forwards (Eric Staal and Jeff Skinner) and top defenseman (Andrej Sekera).(RotoWire, )

News: Khudobin stopped 27 shots Saturday. Impact: Khudobin is not a household name, though he has potential.(STATS, 2:43pm)

News: Khudobin surrendered four goals on 31 shots in Saturday's loss to the Islanders. Impact: It was a rather tepid showing from Khudobin, who squandered a major opportunity to create some space from Cam Ward in the competition for the top goalie job. The final goal allowed by Khudobin proved especially costly, as he allowed the Islanders' Josh Bailey to put the puck past him with four seconds remaining in the second period, which amounted to the game-winning tally. The poor performances offered by both Khudobin and Ward over the weekend make it anyone's guess as to who may get the nod for Tuesday's home tilt with the Sabres.(RotoWire, )

News: Khudobin will draw the start in the net Saturday against the Islanders. Impact: The Hurricanes were always likely to split the back-to-back starts against the Islanders between Khudobin and Cam Ward while the No. 1 goalie gig remained up for grabs, but the decision to go with Khudobin was made even easier after Ward surrendered five goals on just 26 shots Friday night. Khudobin yielded five goals of his own in his final start of the preseason last weekend, but if he can tighten things up in his first turn of the regular season, he could create some separation from Ward in their job battle. Khudobin was unquestionably the superior netminder last season, going 19-14-1 with a 2.30 GAA and .926 save percentage over his 36 appearances.(RotoWire, )
