News: Allen made his Montreal debut in Saturday night's win over Boston. He rotated on the third defensive pairing, playing a total of 14:30 in the win. Impact: Head coach Michel Therrien has been dressing seven defensemen of late, which has resulted in fewer than normal minutes for all of the blueliners. That's something that can pay dividends over the long haul for older rearguards like Sergei Gonchar (17:28) and Andrei Markov (18:44).(RotoWire, )

News: Allen was traded to the Canadiens on Thursday in exchange for forward Rene Bourque. Impact: Allen becomes the second addition the Habs have made to their blue line in the last two weeks, after the team acquired Sergei Gonchar from the Stars via trade Nov. 11. The 34-year-old, who appeared in six games with the Ducks, doesn't have much offensive ability in his arsenal, but he's been quite reliable in his own zone over his career. He's in the final season of a three-year, $10.5 million contract, so he'll just amount to a rental player for the Habs.(RotoWire, )
