News: Varlamov (groin) was moved to injured reserve Wednesday, Adrian Dater of the Denver Post reports. Impact: The transaction was done out of necessity rather than as a result of a setback for Varlamov, as the Avs needed his roster spot to call up defenseman Karl Stollery from AHL Lake Erie. Varlamov showed his first sign of progress in his recovery from the groin injury, taking to the ice at the Avs' morning skate earlier in the day. He faced a fair amount of shots during the session and could be preparing for a return to the lineup over the weekend.(RotoWire, )

News: Varlamov (groin) didn't travel with the Avalanche to Arizona for Tuesday's game against the Coyotes, Mike Chambers of the Denver Post reports. Impact: As a result, Varlamov will be a scratch for the third straight game, with Reto Berra filling in as the team's No. 1 goalie for the time being. It's not known how far along Varlamov is in his recovery just yet, but the Avalanche suggested last week that the injury isn't particularly serious.(RotoWire, )

News: Varlamov (groin) will not be available for Thursday's game against the Capitals, Mike Chambers of the Denver Post reports. Impact: Varlamov hasn't been practicing the past two days after his groin issue resurfaced following Saturday's win over the Devils. Because Varlamov has already missed a week of action with the injury earlier this season, the Avs are probably more inclined to take things slower with the goalie's recovery this time around. Varlamov is officially being viewed as day-to-day for now, but it wouldn't be surprising if his absence spanned multiple games. Reto Berra will serve as the Avs' No. 1 goaltender until further notice.(RotoWire, )

News: Varlamov is day-to-day after re-aggravating a groin injury. Impact: Varlamov tweaked his groin again in a win over New Jersey on Saturday. He missed three games last month because of the groin.(STATS, 2:50pm)

News: Varlamov is dealing with a groin injury and is considered day-to-day. Impact: It remains to be seen whether Varlamov will be able to play in Colorado's next game Thursday, but Colorado's decision to recall fellow goaltender Calvin Pickard indicates there is a chance he could sit out. If Varlamov is unable to go Thursday, Reto Berra would likely get the start in his place. The groin injury previously forced Varlamov to miss about a week of action in October.(RotoWire, )

News: Varlamov made 23 saves in a 3-2 win over the Devils on Saturday night. It was just his fourth win of the season. Impact: He has now won two straight after dropping four games earlier in the month. He has come down to earth after last season's outstanding work and went into the game with a GAA north of three. He's just an average activation right now; use with caution.(RotoWire, )

News: Varlamov will be between the pipes Saturday against the Devils, Adrian Dater of the Denver Post reports. Impact: Varlamov was able to escape with the victory in a shootout against the Rangers on Thursday, but he's still surrendered a whopping nine goals over the last two games. The netminder is still racking up a ton of saves thanks to a leaky defense, but it's been to the detriment of his GAA, which sits at 3.03 over his 12 outings.(RotoWire, )

News: Varlamov allowed three goals on 33 shots in Thursday's shootout victory over the Rangers. Impact: Varlamov and the Avs blew 1-0 and 2-1 leads en route to allowing three second-period goals, but he shut things down otherwise, let the Avs come back, and held strong in the shootout. That ends a four-game losing streak for Varly, though he's still given up 14 goals in his last three starts.(RotoWire, )
