News: In an effort to spark more offense, Kessel will work on a line with Joffrey Lupul when the Leafs take on the Sabres on Tuesday night, The Buffalo News reports. Said coach Randy Carlyle, "They're offense and we'd like to stimulate some offense. You're doing it because you believe what's going on can't stay the same. You just can't continue to accept some of the things that are going on from an offensive standpoint." Impact: While Lupul and Nazim Kadri can be inconsistent, this also has the potential to be a pretty lethal line. The Sabres played well defensively in Saturday's win over the Sharks, but they've been brutal on that side of the ice (well, both sides) all season with 29 goals allowed. This is a good opportunity to see if this line is worth keeping together, and Kessel should certainly be in your Tuesday lineups.(RotoWire, )

News: Kessel scored a goal and added an assist in Tuesday's 4-0 win over the Sabres. He fired five shots on net. Impact: The goal was a fluke -- he banked it in off Michal Neuvirth from well behind the goal line -- but a goal is still a goal. He has 10 points in nine games so far this season; five of those points, including three goals, have come in the last three games. As always, he's an automatic lineup choice.(RotoWire, )

News: Kessel and the Maple Leafs will not play Wednesday after their scheduled game against the Senators was postponed in light of the ongoing crisis in Ottawa, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports. Impact: Multiple gunmen reportedly fired shots Wednesday morning in the downtown area of the Canadian capital, with one shooter dead and possibly one or more still at large. With several government buildings on lockdown, safety will understandably take greater precedence than proceeding with the game as scheduled. The NHL has yet to announce a make-up date for the postponed contest.(RotoWire, )

News: Kessel scored two goals, added an assist and finished plus-3 in a 5-2 win over the Islanders on Tuesday night. Impact: There really are fewer better off the rush than Phil the Thrill. And when he's on, so are the Leafs. His eight points (four goals, four assists) have all come in three of the team's first seven games, so it's a bit of a feast or famine. That means he's better in a total points league than in a weekly or daily format where he might explode ... or fizzle.(RotoWire, )

News: Kessel had a goal and two assists Sunday. Impact: Kessel should be raring to go Tuesday against the Avs. He has five goals in his last five matchups against Colorado.(STATS, 3:05pm)
