News: Smith stopped 23 of 24 shots in a 1-0 loss to the Canucks on Monday.
Impact: Smith played the whole game, suggesting that he's no worse for the wear after missing last Friday's game against the Sharks. He'll likely pick up most of the starts for the 'Yotes this season.

News: Smith was slated to play in Friday's exhibition game against the Sharks, but missed the contest as he's dealing with soreness, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports, with Coyotes head coach Dave Tippett saying, "We'll err on the side of caution."
Impact: Smith was replaced in the lineup by Louis Domingue, a system backstop who signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Yotes in early September. This may have been a good excuse to give Domingue a longer look, as Smith should retain the starting goalie duties in 2015-16, despite coming off a poor campaign in which he posted a 3.16 GAA and .904 save percentage. Anders Lindback is likely pegged for backup duty in Arizona.
